Apollo 14 Graves County 7

Featured Replies

After Apollo vs. Graves I think the chances of the Eagles beating the Maroons are very slim.  North Hopkins has some athletes.  Apollo will have to make every tackle to have a chance.  They loaded the box against O and Hampton put it to them pretty bad.  Hightower is a very elusive back as well.  North Hopkins will slow it down a little and move the ball.  Apollo CAN score but I don’t’ know how much against a good athletic defense.  After the graves game at North, I think the Eagles stand a punchers chance.

On the North Hopkins/O issue - they’ve been really competitive the last 2 years (won 1 lost one both high scoring) but had an outstanding QB.  Owensboro’s QB was marginally good, but would disappear a lot of games.  That’s different now with Ganaway Junior.  Can run it or put it on a dime.  Most accurate QB at O that I can remember.  Dillard I’m guessing is the best sophomore in the state and at the very least the best sophomore WR in the state.  Hampton has had no problem running against the Maroons.  With MNH not able to pass…O should pressure them hard.  I don’t’ see a running clock but I think O by 2-3 TD’s is where I would place it right now.  Although I’ll take a W in any form!

You are mistaken if you don’t think Madisonville is a really good team. You aren’t going to go into Madisonville & running clock them.

No offense but Owensboro wasn’t competitive vs X or CAL.    Each team has a really good win under their belts Madisonville vs PT O vs OCath.   Sounds to me like a pretty evenly

Maybe they are good but outside of PT they’ve had a really soft schedule. That Graves game at home for the Maroons was really telling. You stop the run you stop the Maroons. They seem pretty one dimensional.

Madisonville vs PT

O vs OCath.

Sounds to me like a pretty evenly matched game is on the horizon.

You’re right but O since then has found their stride on the offense side of the ball. If those games were played on the back end of the schedule there’s no doubt the results of those games would be different. I don’t believe O has punted the ball since the CAL game.. MNH can bleed the clock to slow the game down but if they find themselves behind early. It won’t look too good for them.. I’ll save the rest of how I feel about this game in the O vs MNH thread. I’m wrong more than I’m right so we’ll see soon enough.

How bad do we beat Madisonville?

I like OHS to win over there but IMO it’s not going to be an easy W.

Yes. That’s how Madisonville wins these kind of games with a dominant run game. I do think O is the favorite in that game but I think it will be closer than people think.

What kind of score are you guessing now WKY?

Madisonville always a tough team - this year no different.

I’ll go with 28-21 O as of right now with the right to change my prediction as the game gets closer.

49 points allowed to the Apollo Eagles. Maybe they were just the Maroons weakness.

Well 21 were gifts.

2 pick sixes and 1 fumble on the 4 that set up an easy TD late.

Good for Apollo. Watching on NFHS. Madisonville gets good spots and calls.

Those weren’t gifts — that’s just the eagles defense making plays. Forcing turnovers is part of the game. And let’s not forget the missed call on Landen Bratcher on 4th down on the goaline — both feet were clearly in the end zone. The score could’ve looked a lot different if that one went the right way. Great win for the Eagles.

Yeah bad choice of words on my part - Apollo outplayed them.  I was just saying the offense didn’t score 49, to @Devils Fan point that MNH gave up that much.  Apollo’s defense scored twice and created a fumble on the kickoff return that set up the offense.  Great game Apollo for sure and glad for them.  #2 in district and will host Barren County most likely.

Take away Apollo’s turnovers too….. Definitely a more lopsided victory.

Good luck to the Eagles and Red Devils next week!
