Was this staff part of the 13th region championship team?

I have heard Hicks' name being bounced around as well, Scott County just lost their Basketball "Happy" Super. and they say once you leave the mountains you always want to go back. Looks as if Scott County will have best freshman class EVER next year, would be hard to leave another guaranteed championship!!

Lets fe face the facts, they are here to stay at cumberland so deal with it. you have 3 other starters that dont get any credit and they should, they work their butts off and get no respect, so lets give them a little credit. the region is down this year and cumberland should go to rupp, just think of how good they would be if they had caldwell and rymer from cawood, we could pack our bags for rupp now.

I totally disagree with the part about the Region being down kyboy, Cumberland, Corbin, Knox Central, Jackson County, Pineville, Clay Co., South Laurel and North Laurel will probably all win 20 + or close to 20 games this year against competition from all over the state. Also, Middlesboro, Bell County, Whitley County, Lynn Camp, Red Bird and possibly Cawood will be above .500 teams or at least close, so I think the Region is actually the strongest it has been in several years. When South Laurel joined the Region, I think most schools realized they had to raise the bar or get left way behind. Congrats to all these schools mentioned on rising up to meet this challenge.

 

In regard to the job as coach of the new Harlan County High School, I think Mike Jones resume is a very strong one and if he really wants this job, he has probably earned this opportunity and would do a great job. If he doesnt apply, it would be wide open, with Billy Hicks on the wish list. There are some quality coaches in the county that would very much deserve to be part of the staff if they apply and I would love to see some of them be part of this new team.

Yesterday at a middle school tournament that featured 6 of the 8 county teams, Greg Coldiron was in attendance for most of the day. I would say that this probably wasn't a coincidence.......People familiar with Harlan County basketball will know who he is. I believe he is coaching somewhere in northern Kentucky maybe...

His grandkids play for Wallins, but yes he would like to get back here, thats a no brainer. Jones and Coldiron coached together in the 80's. Do we have a teaching position open to bring him in, and if so do we use it and not use them for football as well?

I don't think Billy Hicks would leave Scott County. He has a chance to win the 11th region every year and the state tournament. I just don't think its realistic for him but anything can happen . It will be intresting to see who gets the job.

Mike Jones is the obvious choice.

There might be another coach in the Scott County area (that is also a Harlan County native) that might be "Happy" to take a look at the job!!!

Maybe that's why Scott Co. is having a sub-par year.

Rich seems very interested. The comment about Billy Hicks and the realitor was in jest. Sorry my humor was lost on a couple posters.

Not sure they can match his 100,000 plus he pulls in at Gtown! Happy's next stop is politics!
