? ’Maroons Step Into The Light As 5A Contender, Welcome Battle Hardened Eagles’

Madisonville has been a model of stability in an otherwise unstable class. The Maroons are stacking dubs while the rest of 5A plays with our emotions every week.

Mr. Football candidate Markezz Hightower is giving Sonny Collins vibes leading an offense scoring nearly half a hundred per game, overshadowing a defense that quelled a Tornado two weeks ago.

Graves County has faced every WKY power out there already, front loading one of the toughest schedules in that part of the state. The Eagles have one win to show for it, a defeat of 3A runner-up Union County against losses to Mayfield, Tilghman, Murray, and Owensboro by an average margin of four touchdowns.

The Eagles held Hightower in check last year, as Graves blanked the Maroons, 19-0.

Graves has a decent run defense so if the Maroons are strictly run that should help in Graves favor but the Maroons are too much for a rebuilding Eagles squad. Give me the Maroons by 30+

Graves' defense was reportedly better than the numbers suggested earlier in the season. Do they have enough left in the tank to slow the state's #1 scoring offense, or has the schedule worn them down?

Graves has a decent run defense, and all North Hopkins does is run, run, run, run, run.  Although MNH has a stout O-line and Hightower in the backfield.  4.5 40 guy.

I think Graves scores some and keep it close for a half, then Hightower has a field day in 2nd.

MAROONS win 42-14

17-10 MNH with 920 left in the game.

Madisonville hasn't been nearly as dominant offensively as I thought they would be.

Probably some people surprised at this. I'm not. Graves could play really well against the run, and well, that's pretty much what Madisonville does.

I knew if Graves didn't make a bunch of mistakes, the matchup was favorable for them to hang in at least.

Graves is getting ready to score.

17 all with 430 left.

Let's go Eagles! Would be big with only the 1 win on the season so far.
