Rose Hill 51 East Carter 47

Billman is an excellent 16th region official. Many in the old guard of officiating in this region are great.

Still see a striking difference though in how a game is managed with a 3 man crew, compared to 2 man. Seems to have more issues with 3 man this season. I'm sure that when tournament time comes, the BEST officials will get in and games will be conducted to the best of ability and it will be fair.

On Billman...:thumb:

I've often thought a 3 man crew tends to think they have to blow their whistles more often...if only to justify the notion of a 3 man crew. They're supposed to see more, so they better call more.

Is Rose Hill a favorite to win the 16th or is Russell?

Right now it is up for whoever wants it the most

No one is really playing that great or dominant

I think its Russell's to lose. Rose Hill could also win it, I just dont think they are deep enough to do it. If one of the three main girls on the team has to set because of fouls they are in huge trouble.

Don't count out Rowan! The blind draw districts may knock someone out before region time.

It would not surprise me if any of the following teams win the 16th (in no particular order)

Russell, Rose Hill, Raceland, East Carter, West Carter, Rowan Co

I honestly feel any of these teams could be any of the other on any given night. It is that close.

I am not so sure that Russell can go to their bench any deeper than Rose Hill.

I agree with Shooter that Russell doesn't have a very deep bench either, but with all due respect to Terry and Queen, as a whole I feel that Russell has a more "complete" starting 5 than that of RH. IMO Russell is the one to beat, but given the right situation, RH could also be right in the thick of thing.

No need to qualify your statement. I don't think you will get much of an argument from most Lady Royal fans. I do, however, hope to see the Lady Royals go against Russell. Win or lose, it is always a very good basketball game.

I agree. Russell and Rose Hill games are always good to watch. Rose Hill needs a defense to defend the sixth man.:D

I am picking an underdog to win the Region this year.

No one is really playing that great or dominant

Russell is 20-3. Thats not bad.

If you want to look for an underdog, I would go with Rowan Co.

Russell has a GREAT record but that can be decieving. Not saying that they are, just stating that in general. You can win games and still not be playing they way you should be. IMO, the region has no clear cut favorite. It is up for grabs and will be for a couple of years to come. I have seen teams win by twenty and thats great but they should have won by 40, you know what I mean?

Let's see, Russell has beaten Raceland (16th Region All-A Champion), East Carter and Rowan (2 pretty good 16th region teams in their own right) back to back to back to win the EKC Tourney, Magoffin Co (who is 21-3), Boone Co (a 9th region powerhouse) and 15 other teams. Not really a deceiving record, they have beaten some pretty good teams and their loses have come to some pretty good teams: Belfry, Montgomery and Rowan.

But I do agree that the region is pretty much up for grabs (see my earlier post on the 6 teams I feel could win it and not be surprised).
