As bad as it pains me.. I think this is how this class kind of really looks like right now:

Beechwood

OCath

Mayfield & LCA

Belfry

Hancock County, Somerset, Monroe County

Prestonsburg, Danville, Breathitt County, Bracken County

The Rest

I am not convinced Belfry has improved their glaring weaknesses from last year and if that's the case I don't see them as anything more than team who can upset you on the right night. I don't see Belfry stringing together back to back wins against the Top 5 with the weaknesses they have on defense and their propensity to turn the ball over or make devastating self inflicted mistakes.

I just don't see Owensboro Catholic that high. I think they are on the same level as Mayfield and LCA. If Apollo plays either those two teams Apollo loses by 3 TDs. I just don't see them getting past those two in the playoffs.

LCA could start the season 0-5 and possibly be the best team in the class. Such a brutal and unforgiving schedule. The other contenders play 1 or 2 very good teams, but, nothing like LCA plays. They'll be battle tested. The biggest concern with them is can they stay healthy against that type schedule.

LCA already has 1 win against North Hardin.

I know that. Was just stating that even if they had started the season at 0-5, that would be very misleading due to the quality of opposition.

What about the Owensboro Catholic win over Bowling Green? Best win this year by a 2A team.

I'm not saying it was not a great win, but let's be honest with ourselves this Bowling Green team is not the team in 2024 nor is it the team it was in pre-season. This BG team is still trying to find it's identity.

I know there's still A LOT of football left, but this BG team could be 0-4.

What does that tell us?

Quick glance looks like all 2A teams playing up in competition and Ws also build RPIs.

It tells me we should have a fascinating season! Can't wait to see how this all plays out.
