I agree with this - that is the worst I’ve seen BG look…..ever maybe?  Now maybe that was OCath doing that.  We will see when they come to Rash to play Owensboro.  3 in a row on Owensboro with Atwell at the helm - but last minute come from behind victory in 2 and a come from behind in the 4th last year as well (but last 2 years have been O’s most average team since 2017).  I said in eeach game with Atwell when they won, if the QB’s switched it would be a blowout win for O each year.  He was that kind of player.

 

I thought O would beat them handily this year - especially after the scrimmages O vs.  mayfield and South Warren and OC getting  beat by PT.

Here we go again. Why doesn't Beechwood get the same level of respect in their class that Trinity and Boyle County do in theirs?

For two or three years everybody said it was LCA because they had a nice win or two in the regular season. Then Beechwood beats LCA in the playoffs or in the title game. But that apparently means nothing because the next year LCA beats a big school and everyone jumps them right over Beechwood in the rankings.

Now we have Owensboro Catholic getting a big win and everyone apparently forgets Beechwood beat them handily in the state title game last year. 

Beechwood has won 4 of the last 6 state titles in 2A. They won 3 straight titles in 1A before that. So in the last 9 years, Beechwood has 7 state titles. But one big win to open the season before Beechwood has played a game and they are out as #1?

I would say Mayfield and Beechwood should still be above OCath until we know more - I agree with your logic.

It's fine to put Mayfield 3rd or even 5th. Mayfield was 4th 2 years ago and won the State Title. Mayfield has a good team. Beechwood deserves to be #1. And by the way, Mayfield has played for a State Title, 12 out of the last 15 years. So I'm gonna toot Mayfield's horn a bit. OC , nice win, gets you the best win of the season...so far.

That Top 5 in 2A is very, very good. Feel like the drop is pretty precipitous after 5.

RPI is going to be a huge deal to follow this year. When your Top 5 stretches from the furthest ends of the State West to East and North...  you don't want to be the team on the end of a 4+ hour road trip. Every single non-District game is going to have a high level of importance as a result and each of the Top 5 plays a good deal of those games against very good teams.

I have a feeling this class will be the golden example of the merits of neutral site playoff games in the late rounds.
