They did, but unfortunately UK fans were familiar with the way the game played out. UK had about 4 or 5 games that went the exact same way this year. A couple other games they were able to claw back into it but not tonight.

Even though shots weren't falling tonight, it was the lack of rebounding and toughness that put it out of reach for Kentucky tonight. In games like this, UK needed to really kill it on offense in the second half and make sure Tenessee only took one shot per possession, they just didn't do that at all.

Sometimes you just get outplayed and the shots don't fall. UK had several shots in the 15ft and in range that dropped last weekend that just didn't tonight. Credit to Tennessee on playing really good defense tonight and pressuring everything UK tried to do. Some of the Offensive rebounds UK gave up were because UT outworked UK to get them, several were just results of an odd bounce off the rim, or a shot that missed everything only to bounce straight to a Vol. Even on balls that were just slapped back wildly, they always seemed to find a Vol. I say all of that to say, sometimes you can have a great plan, good effort and do everything that you can and the ball doesn't bounce your way and your shots just don't fall. 

I was more excited about this season than I have been in years. I loved last years team, but this team just endeared itself to me in a different way. 

I'm looking forward to the next several seasons and where this program will go.

Tough one to swallow but pleased with the season, makes you wonder how we even got this far.
