Just saw a post that in the past 13 games UK's defense ranks 11th nationally. That's quite the improvement from being over 100 before that time frame.

With the entire season taken into account UK's defense is ranked 45 on the season, again quite a change from when it was over 100 two months ago.

The defense is what I was going to comment on. Dramatically improved over the past half dozen games. Butler playing is key to that. He is one of the best defensive guards I have seen in a long time. So many subtle things he does with his positioning, great feet and strength. And right now he is doing it with one arm.

Butler with a huge steal and dish to Garrsion when the CATS had gone cold.  All he does is make winning plays.  Hit a couple big 3's in the first half when Illinois had gotten some momentum.

Brea hadn't shot the ball well for the first 50 minutes of the tourny...but the last 30 minutes of the game last night he put on an offensive clinic!

If we can get #22 to make his lay ups, we will be a tuff out!

Hopefully 1 more week with allow Butler's shoulder to get a little stronger as well!

Butler is the straw that stirs the drink, especially on defense. The team defense is much improved, without a doubt. It has also helped with the shortening of the bench, and Pope staggering some of the vulnerable pieces. For example, Noah and Perry have not been on the court together. Heck, Perry didn't even play yesterday. Brea and Chandler can be helpless at times, but they do seem to have a knack for getting steals and being decent rebounders.

Chandler was very good on defense yesterday. Executed the plan well with the way UK was doing switches and his size was what made that plan work.

Brea is a liability on defense. Teams are picking on him.

Perry had no role he could help fill yesterday.
