Reed’s size will really be a factor at the next level, hard to defend anyone with good offensive skills. Wish he were a couple inches taller.

Yes, that is a factor.

Hes guarded larger players his whole life and done very well and I guarantee they won't outwork him he's played against and with the best players in the state never once had a problem he's also shut most of the ones he guarded.

Watched this young man for 6 years….smart, hard nosed, constantly in motion, but, I always thought his defensive skills were superior to his offensive game.  That is saying a lot.  He will do well at the correct college level.

I would agree. He’s everything you said above and a fierce competitor. To me, that’s what really separates him. He is a great high school PG. I can see him having success at the D3 level.

Yep.  D3 or NAIA could be a great fit.   Having watched the likes of Georgetown College and Pikeville, it’s long been a theory of mine that the biggest difference between players at the NAIA vs the D1 level is about 4 inches.

Agree, but every once in a while there are exceptions…Tyler Ullis at Ky….John Stockton, college and NBA are examples.  Not saying Reed is one of them, but he did shine when he stepped up from 2nd fiddle to lead the band.

I watched Muggsy Bogues play high school ball. For what same have said is the greatest high school hoops team of all time.

Very true. Height/size and athleticism are the two things that you can’t teach, right? He’s pretty quick, though not exceptionally so relative to most guards at the NAIA level. NAIA as a rule is a much more athletic brand of ball than D3. I think it’d be tough for him, at least at a higher level NAIA school.

Maybe he could be successful at that level. If he were 6’ no doubt. But there’s nothing wrong with D3. Not many high schoolers players are good enough to be successful at that level. It is very good basketball!

As a coach I always wanted to be in a position to WIN or go overtime in that situation.

In this case the Cards were in a Lose or Go Overtime situation.

It hasn't always worked out for the best for me, but if I were in that situation tomorrow, I would have fouled them, going for a steal, and allowed myself plenty of time 10-15 seconds to respond to the new situation - never just sat back and taken a bullet - but that's me.

I was thinking the same thing, but my thoughts could be argued “the accuracy of hindsight”.

That A very interesting tactic and I don’t think I would’ve even thought of it. Especially in highschool where free throws aren’t guaranteed.
