Fire the welder!

We worked like dogs to build our staff in the offseason.  These guys are off to a good start already and our kids have responded well to this group of men. It is a good mix of Bearcat legends and new blood. Also, good variety in regards to age and background.

We had 25 freshmen tonight. Our Varsity works out at 7 am. Two old Bearcats are leading this group... Derek Shouse ( played against each other in HS-1982) & Darion Dearinger (Marshall U.) Ben Gilbert well join them in July. 25 is a good number for us on June 3rd. Derek is the head coach and has been a very successful football & basketball coach at Anderson County over the years.

Also had a good group for the ACYFL workout tonight. Some of our players helped to coach the young guys and then we had a 7 for 7 clinic w/ the ACYFL Staff.... 7 things we want all Bearcat Football 7th graders to be able to do when they get to MS Football.

Very excited about our future.

Awesome. A question I have for you coach, do you openly invite former players to practices, team events etc.? I’m obviously not a coach, but I’ve always been a big believer in not only having an open door policy with former players to show up to team events, but actively inviting them to team events. I feel if the current group of guys can hear from former players (good or bad) about their experience it could motivate at least a few to work that much harder. History and tradition is such an important thing for the players to learn about but being as young as they are they aren’t going to look it up themselves.

When I was in school we had guys stop by to talk to the coaches they had but it was never a planned event. I was fortunate to have a older brother who told me all about the history of our program.

Being deliberate in doing so... need to do it more. But, yes, all former players are always wanted and welcome. We recognize 3 Bearcat Legends every Friday night. When I can find an old Bearcat Football player who is also a good coach... that is even better. The old Bearcats on our staff bleed red & navy. They are proud of the success Anderson Co. Football has had in the past and they have a chip on their shoulder right now to get things back as they should be.

These guys mean business and it is very important to them.

Those of us that are not former Bearcats are getting after it as well. I am crazy about our staff. If you read those bios, you will get an indication of the quality this group brings to the table.

Very cool environment. It is great for our kids. Selfishly, I really enjoy the mindset and edge these guys have everyday. I love going to work.

Truck Stick scores are tabulated by Mass X Velocity. Our guys have worked hard and we have been pleased with their improvement!

A new(for us) drill we developed to help us move better in space on the defensive side of the ball.

Weighted vest by Omorpho (we love em) !

WR workout today w/ our WR Coach, Kenan McWhorter. Kenan was an All American and holds several records from his time @ Georgetown College.

Good drill today for the end of June workouts. Kids enjoyed it!

Checking the Bermuda grass on a hot , humid summer day. Looking good. Bob Ware Field will be ready to roll on Friday Nights this fall!

Did your supervisor approve?

A couple updates.....

Coach Bob Kincer was a successful HFC @ Anderson Co. in the early 60's. He recently passed away and his family asked for donations to Bearcat Football in lieu of flowers. The response has been overwhelming... have had to get a bunch of thank you notes in the mail.

In the offseason prior to 2023, Bearcat Football purchased 65 sets of pants and jerseys. Being optimistic, we purchased 8 more sets for the fall of 2024 for a total of 73. We have 65 lockers.

This morning, we had 76 Bearcats playing football.

And, we got a new couch from Newby's Furniture this morning.  ? Shane Newby is an old Hog. I am an old Dog.  We have buried the hatchet in Lawrenceburg.  Lol

We still have a long way to go, but very proud of the improvement we have made the last two years and excited for the future.
