I have received word that Holmes will be at full strengh on Monday against Dixie Heights. DJ was officially cleared as of Feb. 1 and did dress against Newport but did not see action (will see action Monday) due to the fact he had not been allowed to practice because of Dr.'s orders. How due you see the ninth shaping up the rest of the way

Agreed, I like the way Cov.Cath is playing right now, but If Holmes gets its act together, they will be a top contender for a state title, if not, this might be one of three year disappointments in nky basketball history, all this talent and if they only end up with one region title and a first round sweet 16 exit it would be a real same, plus i think a trip to rupp would give mr.Hill a lot more well deserved pub.

Not enough he is one of the best players in the state and yet a lot of people fail to recongize that. JMO.

Why did Austin Hill not start against Newport?

In order to win the state tournament in basketball you have to very good. If you're able to jump that hurdle there has to be some cohesiveness on your team, which means playing tough games and maturing as players and young men together. Sad to say it's not going to happen this year for Holmes. I take no pleasure in saying this. This is one of the most unfortunate situations I've seen in Kentucky High School basketball.

Being back at full strength will really tell us a ton about this team. Even being somewhat at full strength against Newport really showed how good Holmes can be as long as they play together.

 

IMO Dj will be a huge addition. The bench has gotten a lot of action as well, so IMO Holmes is without a doubt the deepest team in the region now.

I could be wrong and I usually am, but I don't see any teams besides CCH or Holmes winning the 9th Region this year. I have a hunch though that CCH has the edge because they started the season as a TEAM and they've grown as a TEAM. Other than losing Billy Schult they haven't had too many distractions. They've developed a deep bench. They beat Lou. Male. They only lost to Scott Co. by 5 without the services of Todd Jacobs in both games, which can only help their confidence level. They always play 32 solid minutes of ball. They have excellent TEAM chemistry. They have way more experience with state powers than Holmes does. Yeah, the Bulldogs are talented and because of unfortunate actions by a few key players, they've had a chance to develope their bench, but it's to be seen if they've developed any TEAM chemistry or if they've ever learned to play a full game from start to finish. I think it's too late in the season for DJ to ever be 100%. I'm completely impressed by Austin Hill and his new bench puppies but besides him, they're a little too young and inexperienced to be much more than role players this year. The 'Stars' are back but can they keep their egos in check? There are WAY too many 'IF's with the Bulldogs and for my money I've got to go with a 'sure thing' in the COLONELS!!! They've proved in the Toyota Classic at Scott Co. that they can play 3 days in a row against top notch teams and still come away smelling like roses. I also bet that of these 2 teams, that the Colonels will be the only team invited back to an invitational tournament next year.

Holmes being at full strength is a good sign. No one outside CovCath has a realistic chance of beating Holmes if they play team ball.

Any of you who think Holmes being back at full strength isn't bad for the rest of the 9th region, is crazy.

 

DJ hasn't played all year, yea, but by the time districts and region roll around they will have had a month to play together, and you also have to remember these young men have been playing together all their lives, so it's not like it will make that big of a difference.
