And for many years that would have been sufficient in the Southeastern Conference. However, with the league being full of athletes that are also really good basketball players (not always the case in previous SEC season), that's a recipe for struggles for Kentucky.

Kentucky feasted on the (mediocre) SEC for years because they simply had the better athletes. That isn't the case anymore.

Calling independent and Conference USA.

After watching the UK game, I watched XU vs Georgetown. UK's lack of intensity on defense was obvious as compared to the other three teams I watched last night.  It is as simple as that IMO. UK needs to get focused and intense on defense. It is hard work playing good defense. They are soft and lazy.

I think we should ask to be moved to the great ACC for the rest of this year. lol

Heck we have already beat the two top teams in the league and we did lose to Clemson but I think we could compete better there heck that league has two more teams than the SEC does but only 1 team in the whole league ranked. ?

Nobody but it is the weakest I can remember in probably 35 years and we would probably feel better in it this year.

It's good for Kentucky to pay in the toughest league for a change.

When I was growing up U of L was independent and Con USA.  Those weren't exactly juggernaut situations as opposed to the SEC (during that time).

How is that relevant to the discussion here?

Actually, the Conference USA was pretty strong near the end during Louisville’s last few seasons before leaving for the Big East.
