Is that a set-in-stone rule? I've never heard it officially, although it makes sense. Essentially, dropping out of district play makes you something of a future "flight risk" and they don't want to be stuck with a three-team district if possible.

It is (or at least was) set in stone for the exact reason you stated.

Looks like Newport swapped out Holmes for Gallatin County, so Holmes added Green County that week. They've also added in Covington Holy Cross & Thomas Nelson.

Holmes hasn't put anything out officially on their athletics website or on Hudl, so I'm not sure if they have anyone else added during October (I suspect they do), but it's obviously going to be tougher finding teams that month with district play going on in Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana. Still, I like this schedule for Holmes right now. I would guess that most of those games will be competitive, and some will offer opportunities for the Bulldogs to win.

Thomas Nelson has a beautiful facility, and a new turf field, I certainly hope this will help them right their ship as well.

Holmes dropped Newport from their schedule and Newport had to pick up Gallatin because a late notice even though the two had earlier agree to play each other.

Thomas Nelson does have great facilities. However in my opinion Nelson County just isn't big enough for 2 public high schools, considering Bardstown and Bethlehem are in town.
