It doesn't matter where you start it's where you finish and how you carry yourself day to day. I'm sick of society feeling sorry for people who had a "tough childhood". Hello, you're not a kid anymore, yeh he's a great player. Aren't these athletes supposed to be some sort of roll models for our youth though. If any kids are looking at Henry saying I want to be just like him when I grow up then we've got some problems ahead of us.

I know where he was brought up. It is where a friend of mine got a gun pulled on him because he wandered two blocks off of Bourbon St. That doesn't give him ANY EXCUSE for his actions. Let's face it. In Kentucky, maybe he will pull a gun on a citizen that is armed with a concealed carry permit. Maybe he will get shot. A good lawyer and a feel sorry for me judge won't get him out of that mess. We all know what excuses are like and we all know that they stink. BTW, you will never hear me call him a great reciever. Paul Brown would have fired him a long time ago.

Probably similiar to the way a lot of African Americans from poor neighborhoods were brought up. Not all of them are criminals.

Everything is true except for the bold. Otherwise Paul Brown would have made a mistake. Henry is still raw, but he's gotton better (especially with the alligator arms and not going up for passes). You don't cut/wave a 6'4" guy with great hands and great speed.

No one is hopeless, including Chris Henry. My fear is that he hasn't hit bottom yet. If he really wants to avoid violating probation, I'd suggest that he get a trustee to take care of his finances, including doling out just enough for Henry to live on over the next two years.

I'm not feeling sorry for the man... it's just that I really don't know him to call him to judge him... every man has did wrong in "society" so are the Cancers... nobody perfect. Yes he is wrong for what he did but who am I to hold a grudge against him...

Paul Brown had grade point average requirements for draftees along with no criminal history. These were principles that he felt would lead to a players sucess in the league just as much as a great amount of raw talent.

I've played with (and you have too) several criminals who were good football players.

Receiver or not...he has improvement to do to not be judged that way...this is a GROWN man talking about.

Charles Manson had a terrible childhood, should I pity him? Should I be any less critical of his behavior because "I don't know how he was raised?"

 

Sure I'll admit it if you want to call it a double standard. I have no problem with giving someone a second chance, it's when chances near the double digits that I start to have a little trouble with it.

^ If a professional athlete that has been given a pleathora of chances continues to spit in the face of the law, HE DESERVES a toungue lashing daily, no hold barred.

Mike Brown said a few weeks ago they will look a lot closer before they draft anyone from here on out.

 

WVU game Henry a bad report before the draft too, in the lines of he is trouble.

 

Maybe, just maybe people getting tough on Henry will get him to turn things around, not only for football, but for his life.

He is a grown man so therefore I feel no sympathy for him.
