Cov Cath falls to 15-5

 

Scott wins the Toyota Classic. Cov jumped out to a 7-0 lead and it was all Scott Co from there. Give CovCath a lot of credit on playing them tough.

Great showing of CC against the #1 team in the state. Sure hope CC makes it to the State tourney this year. They are a fun bunch to watch..but I also love their cheering section.:thumb:

Heckuva weekend for the boys from Park Hills. This needs to be the beginning of the "run."

While I hate moral victories, this is one that I think the young Colonels can learn from...

 

CovCath plays Scott County again on Feburary 13th at Scott County and TJ should be back for that game......Hopefully the Colonels learn somethings from these Tournament games....

I am eating crow on this one. I thought Scott Co would roll but the Colonels never backed down and played well. Sounded like too many turnovers but Scott was smart to pressure the ball. That Walls and Mackey tandem looks to be unreal. Can you imagine if they had Haddix?

I thought CovCath would play the Cardinals tough. Nice effort by the Colonels.

I'm not taking anything away from the effort of CovCath, but after Scott Co built up the lead to 15 or so in the second half. They called off the dogs and stopped pressing. Now you still give the other team credit for fighting, but it could have been A LOT worse had they kept pressing.

I have read and heard a lot of things said about Scott County over the years, but one thing that I haven't read/heard about them, is Scott County calling off the dogs on a team... If you look at the KHSAA Scoreboard I don't see any game where you could say that.

The announcers for Cov Cath mentioned in the 4th quarter I believe, that Scott Co had stopped pressing. They didn't bring it up again and I don't know if just happened for a few minutes or they kinda layed off the rest of the game. I'm just going by what they said, Cov took advantage, made some shots and got it back to a two possession game.

I agree, there is no way he called the dogs off. Hicks may have figured the 15 pt lead was enough to stop denying the ball out of bounds but I'm sure they weren't happy allowing CCH to cut the deficit to the final score. If you look at their wins on the scoreboard. They beat some teams pretty bad.

Could have been as Mark and the J-man also said (and you reported), they couldn't keep up the pressure all game long... Maybe just maybe they got tired... Not saying that is what happened but..... Scott County hasn't been a team boy's or girl's known for calling off the dogs.....

Well I have noticed there isn't A LOT of discussion about Scott Co and I have noticed in the past since I have roamed these boards for a few years there isn't a lot of love lost for this team.

 

While I won't comment on any of that, I have noticed there are always a few more fans of the team they are playing then for the Cardinals. : )

 

Not that it matters to me, as long as Mason Co keeps winning, im happy. : )

This was no where near the high quality basketball game I thought it would be. Cov Cath had 22 turn overs and Scott Co. had 21. ugly

Cov Cath had an impressive week playing without Jacobs and a big kid who was on crutches. Jacobs warmed up tonight and was moving pretty good. I thought he might play.

This was not a fun game to watch. Cov Cath plays very deliberate. One trip I counted 12 passes before they took a shot. Cov Cath is very d fundamentally sound and they never quit. Cov Cath had a great shooting game. They were raining 3s the entire game, many from NBA range. Listerman and Hicks are without a doubt two of the best coaches in Kentucky.

On a neutral floor ... with healthy players...Cath wins.
