Fayette County Public Schools will cease posting on "X"

What a disaster.

Really, you are going to leave X for Facebook, Insta, and Linkedln, what a joke.  ?

I wonder if the school athletic accounts will be required to do the same. I get score updates sometimes from those accounts.

Hopefully it is just that one account and FCPS are not going to dictate this bad idea downstream.

Get your kids out of Fayette County Schools!

Right @theguru!?

No, that is JCPS, but FCPS is on the radar now.

I'm not on X, but I feel like the sports side of schools would really need that platform.  Everything else would probably be better served on Facebook.

Facebook is a dying medium outside of boomers.

Not posting on X seems like an agenda by someone in charge.

I would say Boomers and Gen X but after that I agree dying medium at the moment.

I agree this sounds agenda driven.

Also, Facebook allows you to put out information with the comments turned off.  I wonder if that figures into the calculus any.

I'm not sure about it being a dying medium.

Facebook is irrelevant to anyone under 40.

It would be the first social media to go for me and it’s not particularly close.

62% of Facebook users are ages 18-44.  The largest demographic for Facebook users is 25-34 (24.2%).  That's the ages of parents with kids in school.  I understand why they would prefer that platform.

Now, sports is a different animal.  Failure to utilize X for sports makes no sense.

Thanks for the data.

I would be shocked if that many 18-44 are actually using Facebook. Are they registered for it? Probably. Active on there? I'm not buying it.

I don't know.  There's a crap-ton of first day of school pictures every August. LOL

I'm going to show my ignorance here, but what other platforms would reach a lot of parents? Instagram, X, and what else?  I know very little about Snapchat and even less about LinkedIn.

When our daughter was in school, we received text updates and the school's all-call, but Pendleton County isn't quite the same size as Fayette.
