I think what is missing is efficiency. Need to turn more drives into points. Rio and Brody are two completely different players. Rio is supposed to be the more efficient passer so having a higher completion rate makes sense. Benke only played 2.5 games at QB the first 3 games of his Junior season coming in after Half in game 1.

The difference at the moment is points/production. Benke produced 7 TDs (4 Pass and 3 Rush) in those first 3 games. Rio has the ability to limit turnovers, be a willing runner and hit a few deep balls on top of having a high percentage on short throws. If those things happen the Birds will win this game and many more this season.

Ryle will be a great test for the Birds. They seem very similar to me. Good size in the trenches, agressive in the run game, solid on defense, multiple dangerous skill players and both working in new leaders at QB. As I mentioned after the scrimmage, you can throw that result out the window. I am thinking that this is a low scoring game with a turnover or 2 that will swing the game in the direction of HHS. I am going with 21-18 Birds!

Awesome breakdown, total agreement.  The cleaner the game for the Birds the better!  I think that is what I am looking for the most.  It's game 4, limit turnovers.

Ryle made some gutty plays last week against Cooper and if not for playing against the best QB in NKY and some guy name Alexander, they probably win the battle of Union.  Ryle did very little to push the ball down field and controlled the clock extremely well while playing sound and physical defense.  Again, if not for the best QB in NKY on the other sideline, they played good enough to beat the best team in NKY last Friday.  Savage is a beast and they use him very well!

Turning to The Bluebirds, they continue to play very hard but we have not seen them light up the scoreboard or utilize these wide receivers we heard so much about in the pre-season.  Rio is clearly a nice facilitator but hasn't shown he can push the ball vertically much up to this point along with weapons like Arnold seemingly out there as a decoy.  These WR's were heavily touted as big play threats and besides some out of the backfield action, we haven't seen any real numbers produced.  From our Bluebird faithful...is this a controlled and calculated offense?  QB not throwing downfield? WR's not making the play?  Love to hear your thoughts because without a real downfield threat I see The Raiders perfectly content with a score in the low 20's waiting to win on a long drive late in the game.  After watching Ryle against Cooper, simply running the ball right at Ryle won't work for four quarters.  Birds are going to have FLY this week if they want to win.

Two very good teams that are very familiar with one another.  Ryle ran into the best team in NKY and nearly won.  Bluebirds cakewalked through Alexandria last week to remain undefeated.  Does Ryle control the clock and force Highlands to make a late mistake from an unproven QB or do The Bluebirds finally open things up and make some big plays forcing Ryle's young QB to put his arm to good use?  I would love to see these two young talents go toe to toe but I think the Big Bully Lineman on each sideline decide this one. Neither team has shown their willingness to push the ball through the air.

Good luck to both teams and safe travels to all going, this should be a fun matchup and start to shape the landscape for how NKY Football in 5A & 6A might be seeded for the playoffs.

I think this game will be decided on turnovers.  It will come down to which QB doesn't turn the ball over and has 15 or less attempts passing.  Verax is averaging about 17.5 Pass Attempts per game and Highlands is not wanting Rio to throw it anymore than that.  Barring any cramping, this should be a quick football game.

If you can't make the action, tune in to bluebirdsradio.com! I'll be live broadcasting the game from Ryle. Go Birds! Live around 10 minuets before kickoff.

Currently the poll is in the favor of the Birds 47-22.....a thought it might be even tighter.

It will be an absolutely BEAUTIFUL night for some football...my goodness

Also, word of advice for my Birds traveling to Ryle...I remember last time we played there, there were several people that parked along the Double Eagle Dr, going westbound and that was a BIG NO NO!!!  Tow trucks are just salivating to go tow your Bird loving cars away and then you'll enjoy a nice fee to get it out.  Don't be that guy!
