I do not understand the universal love for Ballard. Did they have some big talent transfer in that I’m not aware of?

They have an entirely new coaching staff and lost plenty of production from last season.

Good point.

One weekend doesn’t make a season, Boyle Co will improve every single weekend and will be best in our state.

You were right about Boyle.

Highlands is probably a top 10 team and Owensboro also belongs on this list. I also think Scott County is much higher than 24.  And I love Boyle County but Trinity is the best team in the state.  Other than that it looks pretty good.

Highlands is good.  Scott County and Owensboro haven' really lived up to expectations.  And, so far, Boyle has shown they are the best.

I’m very fond of the strides Hart County has made as a program. I feel like Beechwood has no business being below them though. Respectfully.

Looking at the numbers at least Beechwood closed the gap by a place this week.

My gut says Ashland is ranked a little high. They jumped from #15 to #12 after beating Greenup County 51-12. Greenup isn't a bad team, but isn't a great team. Then they dropped back from #12 to #13 after boat-racing Rowan County 55-7, and dropped from #13 to #15 after beating Boyd County 49-21. Their Johnson Central win jumped them back to #12, and then they stayed there at #12 after beating a bad Simon Kenton team 58-28.

I realize Ashland put up 16 more points on Simon Kenton than Cov Cath did, but Cov Cath only allowed a field goal to Simon Kenton back on September 6th, beating them 42-3....so they allowed 25 fewer points to Simon Kenton. And Cov Cath is currently seven places behind #12 Ashland at #19.

I would honestly put Ashland and Cov Cath somewhere pretty close to being on par with one another. I'm not sure if that means Ashland should be lower in the state rankings right now or if Cov Cath should be higher...or maybe a little bit of both. But I don't really see Ashland as being that big a step ahead of Cov Cath right now.

4. Corbin
5. Covington Catholic
6. Ashland

7. Johnson Central
8. North Oldham

It would be a fun game, who knows.
