Update - May 17 2025 - Buildings are being prepared for brick and work progressed on the roofs.  The parking area is being graded.  The soccer field has been leveled with the first layer of media.  New field material has been staged.

Update - Tuesday June 3rd, 2025 - Work started on the Field turf.  Later this week or next - the plan is to start on laying the base for the track.  Weather permitting.

Update - June 9th 2025 - Field turf progressing.  I saw equipment being dropped off for the track surface to begin (weather permitting).  Scaffolding is being setup to begin laying brick.  Retaining wall for the parking lot area has been started.

 

Update June 14th, 2025 - Lots of activity - Field logo's being placed on field with the next step - laying the rubber media.  Track is being readied for new surface.  Began laying the front facade for the building and roofing shingles in place.

Update - June 18, 2025 - Soccer field turf is getting the last layer of sand and rubber.  Assembly of Goals has started.  New sidewalk and steps are being worked on.  First layer of asphalt has been applied to the track.  After the turf is completed the final asphalt layer and top rubberize surface will be applied and then lane lines.  Brick work continues.  Will get some pictures this weekend.

Update - June 22, 2025 - Field is complete with new goal assembled.  Track will be next.  Work on the score board is being started.  Brick work on the outside and HVAC on the inside is progressing.

The field turned a dark green after the rubber was applied. On the right of the picture is a truck with a hole drill for the new Score board

Update - July 6th, 2025 - Work continues on the interior and exterior of the building.  Topsoil is being applied around the field and the walkway above the right turn.  One I-Beam Scoreboard is now in place.  Walkway is progressing.   Work to provide safe access to the soccer field will be completed in time for them to start practice.

I like the idea of mixing the brick up. This place looks like it’ll be an awesome venue.

Update July 23, 2025 - Building is progressing.  Work on the electrical, plumbing, insulation, and drywall is ongoing.   Last layer of rubber surface has been applied to the track.  Next Lane Lines will be added.  Soccer practices on the field are expected within the next week or so.  Home games will not begin until the facility locker rooms; rest rooms, concession and parking are complete.  I do not know the exact timing.

Update July 25th, 2025 - The lines were added to the track today.  Thought it was worth posting.

Obviously I’m not a Highlands fan…but this will be the nicest facility in NKY for soccer and easily top 3 in the state..,just my opinion, but this already looks awesome and it’s not even done yet. 

Excited to see players on the field!

Just got the green light for the boys to start practicing on field this Monday!  

The Fieldhouse and plumbing stuff still has around 45’ish days or so to get everything finished to allow Highlands to have a game there and for it to be open to the public. Fingers crossed but hopefully we will see a game or 2, maybe some post season games played there.

*** NKU has worked well with Highlands to allow the games that were selected to be home games be played there since Tower Park isn’t ready yet.

I’m oblivious to the soccer calendar in Kentucky. 45 days out puts it into mid-late September. When do the playoffs start? I drove by yesterday and this facility is phenomenal looking. 
 

I always feel bad for the class that couldn’t play in a new building/field and jealous of the ones that can. I’d venture to say that anyone involved in soccer or track and field that played for the Birds will be extremely proud of the facility. Good job to the folks in FT Thomas. If you’re to do something do it right and it looks like they hit a home run.

Last regular season “home” game is Sept 25th. Then Districts, then Regionals, etc…..

Luckily that Sept 25th game is slated to be “Senior Night”, so the festivities hopefully will be at Tower Park for that special night.
