2007 Fern Creek

Talked to Nichols today, he hasn't applied anywhere, he's been working on ordering new stuff for Manual.

Does this info come from one or the other green teams after Manual picks up a bunch of kids this year from the catholic leagues???

Everytime Nichols has a some talent come in from catholic leagues rumors start that he is leaving, just who is starting these rumors and what do they have to gain.

You can talk to him all you want, why would he admit it to people who do things for him? I know for fact that he has applied. HE may withdraw as the news gets around but I know he has applied.

Deny all you like, I've had 2 different Jeff Co assistant coaches call me this week and ask if Nichols had applied at Fern Creek. Both cited sources that came from a school on Poplar Level Rd.

Sorry, but the news came straight from Fern Creek Rd. Not Poplar Level Rd. Why would St. X ever want Joe to leave Manual? He is great for X! Do you really think he is getting that many Catholic Kids or the school itself is luring them?

Seeing as TigerKat has access to the program that none of us do, then I would trust his word on this matter.

I get a kick out of the notion that a kid would go from a Catholic school to a public school because the school itself attracts them, but if a kid moves from a public school to a Catholic school there must be something wrong with it. By the way, that is a general comment and not directed at TigerKat.

I ask TigeKat to produce some proof of this application from Joe Nichols. I always thought these rumors needed to be sustantiated before posting. The reason I am asking for proof is that I stand to gain a windfall ($1,000,000) if I can see this proof.

I know some people are "in the know" about a lot of things, it is not always enough to bet the house on though. I spoke to Nichols already today and he assures me that he has not applied for anything. I have known of past openings he "considered applying for" but he never did. I am sure someone else "in the know" wiill tell us that he applied for PRP and Butler as well. That was not the case! Just saying, "put the rumor mill to rest" he is not applying.

He must be causing enough of a disturbance to get such emotional responses though. RP, "That would be best for Manual"? Can anyone remember a time several years back when Manual was lucky to get to the playoffs? Just last season all the talk about Manual "so young" and "have to replace a huge senior class from the previous season"and "Manual will finish behind Butler and Iroquois in the district". What happened? They made beat PRP, Butler and Iroquois, made the playoffs and had played St. X well before losing both QBs in about a 3 minute span. Say what you want but there are alot more people glad to have Nichols at Manual than you want to believe.

Don't worry about Manual this season, Nichols will still be on the sidelines screwing things up! Take that week of practice off guys, it's in the bag!:dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa :dancingpa

Now, back to the regularly scheduled thread topic, who is going to coach Fern Creek next season?

Nichols is a great coach, but he lets his emotion cloud his judgement in tense game time situations. He has done wonders to Manual's program, but I agree that they need a cooler head to take them to the next level.

How about the Creek? When do they plan on an announcement? This, seems to me, to be a little late to be starting a coaching search.

Since they started taking applications last wee or so and Bronger was just relieved of duties 2 weeks ago it will probably be up to 4 weeks by JCPS guidelines. I know after the first week of applicants the front runners are Higgins, and Nichols. I think it will will Higgins as he has some ties to Ted Boehm who was the principal at Male when Redmon took over and Curtis was there with him. Boehm is now the athletic overseer and makes many of the big decisions along with Tito Castillo and the SBDM. I do not see why Joe would want to drive that much further from Indiana daily to not gain much. I found it hard to believe also.

He hasn't lived in Indiana for over a year, maybe closer to two years.

Must be nice to be a front runner with no official application in though.

He is already JCPS employee so there would be no app. I am not arguing. Joe called FC last week to inquire about what he needed to do to apply and he was told the process. Whether he sent his resume this week or not is a foregone conclusion according to you. That is fine, I know he inquired but that is that and it does not matter b/c Higgins will be the next coach regardless of who applies.

I wonder what effect all this will have on FC's freshman phenom QB? Will he be looking for a new home? It would have to be a school that would take advantage of his potential. A school where he could compete at the highest level. Any schools come to mind?:D

Since he was ineligible academically for both b-ball sports he needs to get things in line before he thinks of another school. I think that the Male offense will suit him pretty well. He looks alot like Anderson from 2 years ago.

That would be my comparison as well but as TigerKat said, he needs to get his grades together before anything else. If Higgins DOES take over the reins, the fresman QB will have his opportunity to shine at Fern Creek. I just hate all this transferring and kids (parents) trying to take their show to all these different schools. Heck, if the kid is struggling to keep grades up at Fern Creek, what is he gonna do elsewhere.

Stick it out, stick your nose in the books and your butt in the weightroom.

He was actually only ineligible for a week or so, he had suffered some sort of hand injury and a lengthy illness (pnuemonia I believe) and chose to forego the rest of basketball season in order to work on academics and gaining weight. . He had not even originally intended to play basketball and only did so after the bball coaches hounded him, That is directly from his own mouth no rumor or hearsay.

He is in the weight room after school everyday. I don't think your allowed to participate in conditioning if your actively ineligible. Last update I heard put him at 6'5" 170lbs. If he left to go anywhere he would go back to Trinity and have to sit a year, I don't see him doing that the kid loves football too much. I have compared him to Anderson when talking to people many times he has the potential to be far better than Anderson however because he has a much better football "head" on his shoulders and a better "touch" and I think will end up having a much stronger arm.
