@cincyswords I disagree which is fine everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Ryle only shooting 14 free-throws with as rough and physical that Newport was being in their press to me is not right.

Wasn’t at the game, just asking. Did Rylr shoot a lot of jump shots or were they driving to the basket and not getting calls. If they shot a ton of jump shots there will ALWAYS be these types of disparities. Again, wasn’t there but if they were in fact driving way more than shooting jump shots it could be a head scratcher.

I don't think that is his point, Sixer.

  • Looks like Newport committed 17 fouls, Ryle committed 19.  Newport was taking it to the basket a lot more than Ryle, there for more foul shots.  Ryle also committed about four fouls in the last 30 sec

The 16th region refs sure let them play very physical game. Big second half for Kinney makes all the difference in this one.

This and the close beechwood win has me concerned for Newport. Neither of those teams are good/great defensively, while Cooper/CCH are. And they are giving them a great scouting report to use. Newport won't be gifted all the turnovers and lack of offense like this opponent provided them in those games.

Ryle pulled up a lot on shots for short to mid range jumpers instead of going into the teeth of Newport's defense.  Not a bad strategy they just needed to shoot a little better.  Played a very solid game.
