Yeah, I'm still a little irked over that!:irked: They played both Stepp boys almost the entire game and didn't take them out until a minute or so left in the 4th......while winning by 51. Now that's not very classy imo.

 

You have a right to be mad because they shouldnt have left them in that long but I think they realized that later and that is why Clark didnt play in last nights game. Hopefully it wont happen again.

Have you seen Breathitt players they are good, and the Hays boy has come alive he is one of the best powerforwards in the 14 region. I would say they do have the best big man in the region with 6-6 score from anywere Travis Smith. And you cant forget about shoot the lights out Justin Hollan. And then you have Nick Noble Which is a real good ball handler but ant the best shooter that have seen but any given night he can drop 10 on you. Then you have Aaron the bull Combs which is a alround good player and fugate which is one of the top Freshman in the 14 reigon. Than allen which is on real good defense players on that team. Many more good players Breathitt is loaded:walk:

Get it in your head that I do not care how good YOU think Breathitt is & I don't care who they have on there team. I know Smith & Hollan are 2 very good players. I know that. Like I said, IMO Breathitt is the 4th best team in the region. 1) JBS, 2) Hazard, 3) Perry & 4) Breathitt. That's how I see it & that is how I will continue to see it until Breathitt beats one of those teams. Yeah, calm down. I know they beat Hazard but thats it. By what 2-3 points @ Breathitt. I'm just not buying it. 4th best team in the region IMO. :walk:

Actually, I think they beat Hazard by 1 on Hazard's court, but your point is well taken as far as I'm concerned. I think Breathitt is a top 4 team also and not because of Smith and Hollon but because of their freshman, depth and the improved play of the Hayes kid (although I don't think he's the top forward in the region by a long shot, but he is much improved). I knew Perry Central would surface toward the end of the year. I've seen Hazard play and they are a solid team. I'm egar to watch June B. play this weekend in the all A at Breathitt. I gave them a hard way to go a couple years ago when they were racking up big numbers on a string of very weak teams and thought they were setting some "phoney" records if you will but I'm afraid they have probably come of age and they very well could be the team to beat in the 14th for a couple of years.

I'm glad Breathitt is having a great season but I'm also very aware of their weaknesses and if I am, then any decent coach will be also and if they have the players to do some things, it could be bad! But, I'll hope for the best and look forward to an exciting end to the season!

My take as well...sort of. I think Breathitt is one of the four best teams in the region and they absolutely have a good chance to win the region. Favorite? Maybe not, but none of the other 4 (PCC, Hazard, or JBS) have separated themselves to the point where you would say they are a clear cut favorite. Right now, I would rank the region this way...

 

1. June Buchanan - They won the WYMT. They have played well and they have the best player in the region, IMO, so those facts lead me to place them at the top.

 

2. Hazard - I give them the nod over Breathitt because they are a little more experienced overall and when it comes to tournament pressure (see last year).

 

3. Breathitt - I agree that the schedule hasn't been overwhelming, but 18-1 is impressive. Especially when you consider where they were last year. Also, the close loss and then the win at Hazard should prove that Breathitt is good enough to compete with the top of the region. It's now just a matter of who plays their best when it matters the most.

 

4. Perry Central - Hey, it's Perry Central. If you're talking about teams with a chance to win the 14th, they always have to be on the list. Period.

 

 

As far as Breathitt beating Menifee much worse the second time around...if Menifee indeed had some players out then there is no question that it would have to impact the game. But, I also think Breathitt is a much more confident team at this point than they were earlier in the year. Early in the year they probably weren't sure how good they were or how good they could be, since they were coming off of one of the worst seasons in school history. Now, they're on a roll, so the memory of last season has faded and now they have that confidence that they're going to win the game when they take the court. That makes a big difference and can go a long way in a team's performance.

Unfortunately, Breathitt lost to Letcher Central last night, 65-53. Still an impressive win versus Menifee County, however.
