  • It's been a couple of years since we've seen the North American Oscillation in a negative phase. It was around February 2021 when we had the tri-state ice storm. Also, I believe Louisville was hit wit

My next call for possible snow accumulations.

The GFS and Euro are currently the only models that suggest a more southerly track for the storm; the NAM, ICON, and RDPS models remain in agreement. Based on this information, I have adjusted my snowfall totals. This is my next call for potential snow accumulations.

North of I-64, 1-4 inches

South of I-64, 3-8 inches

That looks about right....looks like NKY is getting nothing.

@nWoMost of the sources I've looked at are showing nothing coming for NKY from this system. Do you agree?

Yes, if you focus only on the GFS or Euro, which is now outweighed by the majority of the models I use for my accumulation forecast (the precise track is still unknown as we are still a little over 24 hours out). That is why I have 1-3 inches for now.

In conclusion, modeling data indicates a narrowing of the snow field and a slight jog to the south of the storm's track. It should be emphasized that the storm track may still shift north or south during the winter weather event. As for total snow accumulations, they are primarily 1-3 inches northward from I-64. The amount of accumulation decreases further northward, with a very short cutoff of snowfall. South of I-64, 3-6 inches south and east of a line from Bowling Green through Lexington to Ashland; south and east of a line from around Columbia through Somerset to Paintsville, 6–11 inches; and a possible foot+ of snow accumulations is in the Winter Storm Warning area.
