Dropping pounds 2024

Featured Replies

Pounds are tougher to shed now for me.  Weighed in at 176 this morning.  Down 84 lbs since late Nov 23.  I'm 1 lb from my original goal but I may keep going at it hard until 170 lbs.  Keep pushing everyone.  We will all get there!!

In May of last year I had my 4th Pulmonary Vein Ablation (PVA) to address a-fib that was persistent.  It seemed to work finally and after that I committed to dropping the pounds.  I went from around 2

Time to get back at it. Since June I have ballooned back up to nearly 350 lbs.

I finally got to 90 lbs down.  Weighed in at 170 lbs.  Started in late November of 2023.  Pounds are really hard to come by now.  I may be about where I hope to settle.  Staying discipline and focused is my goal.

How are you doing @TCR?

I'm down to my goal weight now, and have been hanging steady between 176-179 lbs for the last 3 weeks. Was about 230 this time last year. Sticking to a strict 2000 calorie diet and still avoiding processed foods and sugar. I go back to the doctor at the end of this month just before heading off for a cruise the first week in December...hoping to get off/lower dosage for some of my meds and hoping my kidney function has remained stable.

Thankful that you're quoting me an holding me accountable! I'm hanging around that 350 range. Had a couple of good days eating this week, at least have had a salad every day. I'd like to do better though.

I had it, honestly. This summer, I had it. I was on a great path. Down to 330 from 363 and didn't expect anything to change until losing my coworker and I take responsibility for letting that throw me out of rhythm. It was instant I found out - I was going to announce games at DeMatha Catholic. Finding that out, I instantly went to Olive Garden and gorged on the way up and drank a ton of pop and haven't looked back since unfortunately. We upped the dosage of the Wellbutrin, my dosage being quadrupled, hoping that would help as I thought it was the basic dose that helped get me to where I was and burn this appetite but unfortunately at this point it hasn't.

Going a different route this week. After some help from former WCW wrestler Diamond Dallas Page, I'm beginning to attack areas I haven't emphasized as much. I'm still going to drink my pop (for now) but I'm going to see what happens after eliminated (1) gluten, and (2) dairy. Any support is appreciated and I'll definitely provide the same back!

My gosh - not even one week and I feel like a completely different person. First off, for anybody struggling with a mental disorder as I do with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - try eliminating dairy and see what happens. I cannot believe the difference it has made and although I'm still having some OCD spells here and there, it has been a tremendous help and I would say the OCD has gone down by about 60%.

I know it's the dairy because I had a spell where I cut gluten back in 2017 (although still had dairy) and I have had many spells where working out has picked up intensely.

Woke up at 344.4 - down 5.6 pounds.

This doesn't even include major changes - still been drinking pop, I've had plenty of fries from Chick Fil-A, hardly anything worth bragging about in terms of my eating although I have incorporated more vegetables but that's more because I have had to eliminate so many items.

DDP's exact words to me were "The main things that inflame your body are wheat, and gluten. Which hates you - HATES YOU - that's why you're 350. I don't even need to see you. 5'10, 350. I know." Then in another area he showed how milk was meant for a baby cow - not a human. There is definitely a reaction my body, has to dairy and I'm going to have to make significant changes going forward.

It may not impact everyone the way it has impacted me - but I'm putting this out there to let people know of my experience this week. I feel like an new person mentally, and didn't even feel this way when I had lost 33 pounds from the beginning of the year to the summer.

So here we go. Big week ahead. Down five pounds. Here are the goals:

1. The Weight Watchers plan worked for me this year. Let's get back to it.

2. Eliminate gluten and dairy. Remember what Diamond Dallas Page said: "Gluten hates you!" My OCD improving by the day shows that this is not just something that is a once-in-a-while item to have, my body truly has a bad reaction to these foods. And I have been eating them for years.

3. Do three workouts.

4. 64 ounces of water each day.

I've heard this about dairy from several different sources over the years. It's been noted we are the only animal that regularly drinks milk from another animal (whether it's cow, goat, etc), and that dairy is the top source of saturated fat in the American diet. I suppose it's like anything else, and can effect different people in different ways, and should be consumed in moderation. I've never been a big dairy guy, outside of my school days when I had chocolate milk with every lunch. About my only dairy intake is yogurt a few times a week.
