Lakers 123 Pacers 109 (In-Season Tournament) Championship

Featured Replies

Final the Lakers go 7-0 throughout the tournament. Anthony Davis had 41 points and 20 rebounds. LeBron was named the In-Season Tournament's first MVP.

I read people discussing online if this should be looked at as a Championship, season MVP, or Finals MVP are when looking at a players career accolades or achievemens?

If so, did LeBron just get another ring?

With not a lot going on last night I found myself watching this game. I watched nearly all of the 2nd half, which is by far the most of a regular season game that I've watched in years.

One big take away...if teams brought this kinda of energy every night, I'd watch a lot more NBA.

No doubt the LeBron acolytes (and the LeBron marketing machine) will put this alongside his career accomplishments… which they should. But not in the same universe as winning a ring.

The Lakers did their thing and showed why they are a threat to win the actual title, but beating an out of shape Zion and an up and coming Pacers team ranks about 94th on the most impressive things LBJ has done. The combined record of the teams they faced is 55-74.

I thought adding the In-Season Tournament was a great move for the NBA. I enjoyed watching several of the games. Sports Betting and a lot of former UK players that are dominating the league, have gotten me more into the NBA.

It was a long overdue move by the NBA and something that has been talked about for almost a decade. I believe they can tweak some of the group stage rules and extend it over a longer period of time.

It's official. The Lakers will be hanging a banner for their monumental feat.

Sounds like it'll be a single banner that years can be added to it.

I don't understand why people are acting like the Lakers shouldn't be celebrating this. See a lot of people on Twitter talking about how Kobe would be rolling in his grave. I don't think they know Kobe. You're telling me he wouldn't have wanted to win that thing?

I’m all for it. I love seeing the teams give a darn and love the high intensity action. I hope it grows and believe it is a good move on the banner you can add to.
I do enjoy ribbing the LeBron folks who believe this is one of his top achievements. I actually find that to be kind of insulting to the King; but, in the world of clickbait and memes, it was predictable.

I enjoyed the run the Pacers went on because outside of remembering Myles Turner at Texas and paying a little attention to Tyrese Halliburton last year because his assists totals are always strong, I didn't know anything about them. Saw something that said 10 players were making $3 million or less, so the $500K meant a lot more to that team than others probably. So I was pulling for them to win it all.

It showcased some of the inequities of the NBA (or pro sports in general). $500,000 is a lot of money, I don't care who you are. But for every LeBron, AD, etc. that was taking it seriously, you had some in flippant mode because they make millions more than the last guys on the bench. Mostly the action was all high level and people cared.

I'd like to think the the top guys were all playing a little harder with every tournament game for their guys on the end of the bench. But who knows if that's true haha!

What a waste. Didn't watch one sec.
