Florida State gets their undefeated regular season and the Gators aren’t going bowling.

Both of those statements fill me with so much joy.

Florida State played almost as bad as you can play for the first quarter and a half, at least on offense.  They faced a ton of adversity - backup QB getting his first start in an incredibly hostile environment, only had three offensive plays in the entire first quarter, one first down in the first quarter and a half, gave up a safety, one of the worst roughing calls you'll ever see handing a TD opportunity to Florida (which they cashed in) - the list was extensive.  And yet, they trailed only 12-0 (and it SHOULD have been no worse than 8-0).  Their offense figured some things out, and they did enough.  Meanwhile, the defense absolutely hammered down on Florida, who were facing trouble with a backup QB of their own.  Six of the final eight drives for Florida yielded zero first downs.  After they went back in front with a field goal, their final four drives ended 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out, 4 and out (with an INT).  They had negative yardage in the fourth quarter.  I think FSU has a championship-caliber defense.  They've given up only 58 points in the second half of 12 games.  They're the only team to basically shut down Jayden Daniels.  They may no longer have a championship offense, unfortunately, but they have proven themselves to be a very good team, and I believe, worthy of CFP inclusion should they beat Louisville.

Good I’m happy for you. I have always preferred Florida State over Florida.

If they win next weekend I think they are in, don’t see how they can’t be.

I just simply don’t trust the committee. There are a lot of good teams and the ACC doesn’t have a good reputation. I could see them believing that FSU isn’t as good as a 12-1 Texas, or 12-1 Bama (should they beat Georgia), or a 12-1 Georgia (in that scenario). And honestly, without Travis, that may be the case. Who knows. But I think it would be foolish, because it risks a 14-0 team winning a major bowl from a P5 conference, and that would be a black eye for college football. Especially if they beat, say, Ohio State.

I haven't kept up, what's the expected status of Florida States QB1?

He has a broken leg and had surgery…

Hmmmm, based off of that it doesn't look good for him to start any time soon.

With that said, I thought the committee has said in the past that they DO factor in key injuries when considering a team's standings in the playoff picture.   That's really tough for the rest of the team.  Perhaps Louisville will come out hungry next week after what happened today and it won't matter.

Time will tell.

Put some Atomic Balm on it and suck it up, kid.

....Or, as one coach around Louisville used to say (way back when),  "Tape an aspirin to it."
