You don't bench your starting quarterback (all-time leading passer in school history) for getting a personal foul. That is called coaching when you pull a player aside. I'm absolutely blown away if this is true.

If a basketball player gets a T: He comes out.

If a baseball player intentionally hits a batter: He comes out.

If a soccer player earns a card: They come out.

But in this situation, a senior QB earns a personal foul and according to this thread, he shouldn't have came out? And it's coaching? A little bit of a double standard.

  • One thing you can say about Coach Clev is that he's coaching non-stop during these games.  He's done a great job in year 1.

  • Horton was benched by Coach Jaggers because he got a personal foul for taking his helmet off before getting off of the field. Horton punted the ball with 4th down and inches. Frustration from Horton I

  • They'd be really really good, I'll just leave it at that.

Well in Coach Jaggers defense he has been hit with the injury bug BAD. you can't put kids in the right place if they're on the sidelines in street clothes. I do think play calling has been terrible this year.

A different player and coach both received personal fouls prior to this one. That player did not come out nor did the coach leave the sidelines. Like I said previously, I was not condoning the personal foul, which consisted of him taking his helmet off before getting completely off of the field. There was no dramatic scene, no one even knew why he was taken out. The coach didn't even know until the ref walked all the way down the sideline to tell him.

All of the scenarios you listed are at the discretion of the coach, those players do not necessarily come out of the game, except for soccer and that's a rule. This was the first time this season that a player received a personal foul and never re-entered the game. So, double standard? You got that part right.

You are right about injuries, there have been several. But the issues started way before most of those injuries. Scott Co. game looked really good. Lincoln hasn't played that game scheme since.

Where can I find these rules etched in stone?

A personal foul is one play. One mistake. You're benching a kid for the game for one mistake? In the previously mentioned cases, you're taking your start basketball player out for a technical? Benching a pitcher for hitting an opposing player? That is nonsense.

You have obviously never coached much of anything.

Call me crazy.. but how about you just keep your helmet on till you're off the field?

I agree. Keep your hats buckled at all time while on the field, player safety 101. But losing your composure and taking your hat off on the field doesn't warrant being benched for the rest of the game. I would think the coach would give your senior captain more of a leash.

Wouldn't you hope your senior captain would have more composure and set a better example to lead the others?

Take your hat off early, steps from the sideline= bench for game. might as well bench him for season. get your point across coach.

I've nver pretended to be a coach, and am not one. You people are missing the point, which is exactly my own point.

Instead of blaming the coaches (because that's the easy route for every school, every team, every time they lose) maybe people need to look at their own actions.

I have no dog in the fight, or really any interest in the situation. Just offered my opinion!

You obviously don't know this kid.....everyone makes a bad decision from time to time.

If you had no interest, then why click on the thread and continue to comment.

No one blamed the coaches for losing.

Thanks for the info. That info makes pretty clear to me that he did not get benched because of the personal foul. I think there is more to the story.

I heard he got benched for cussing at the reff.
