I know we beat Cov Cath, Elizabethtown, Franklin Co, Lawrence Co, Newport Catholic twice, and Boone Co twice last year with a relatively young team and they are all rated above us. LOL

CovCath also beat you.

CovCath also beat you.

So you think they are the 16th best team in the state this year?

How in the world did Edmonson County get votes? They are horrendous other than their pitcher Rye Davis.

True, but if your going to make a legitmate poll you should probably have information like Beechwood graduated every starter but one last year. LOL

And no way Cov Cath is a top 25 team when they only had the 5th best record in Northern Kentucky last year. I mean, the stats are on the KHSAA web site for that one. You would think someone would have researched it.

Not so sure that last year's record has anything to do with this year's poll, but I understand your point.

CovCath usually plays some top notch competition. I'm sure that the reputation of the program has more to do with it than last year's record.

Lastly, I have always said that "preseason polls indicate how much talent the players have, and the post season standings usually indicate how much talent the coaches have and what they did with the player-talent". Think about it... it much a great deal of sense.

To back this up, look at the basketball teams that Dave Faust has had at St. Henry (not an abundance of talent, but great achievements), look at the teams the Pitino has coached (same... little talent, lots of achievements) at Louisville, and on the other end of the situation, look at how much talent UC's basketball team had year after year in the late 90's and early 2000's but look at how the ended in the rankings (over abudance of talent, not much to show for it... hint, I'm not a big Huggins fan). Not where they were rated preseason.

Anyway... enough rambling...

Have no clue. Your post indicated you were surprised CCH was ranked ahead of Ryle even though Ryle beat CCH last year, and I was simply adding that CCH also knocked off Ryle, so why be surprised about the rankings. The head-to-head between them means nothing.

I have no idea what CCH has this year outside of Bleser, Popham, and the loaded Sophomore class. However CCH has been in the top 20 in the state more years than not under Coach Krumps skippering, so I think #16 sounds about right.

Always is......they don't know too much about Northern Kentucky teams down there.

To be honest, that's nobodys fault but their own. Everyone has equal opportunity to vote and if they don't, obviously it will be inaccurate. I'd say that poll consists of around 20% of all KY baseball coaches. It's not Louisville/Lexington's fault NKY doesn't vote...

Actually the point I was trying to make was that Ryle beat at least a half dozen of those top rated teams and still had a lower ranking. I think this poll is a result of:

1- The recognition that coach K has the ability to field a decent team regardless of returning tallent.

2- A lack of knowledge from down state coaches about the 9th region.

And not to take anything away from CCH, I just don't see them as a 16 this year just as I do not see Beechwood as the 12th best team in the state this year.

Even Boone Co. came in with 6 pts , above Ryle with 5 pts . Can not see that . They have been getting no talk on here . Agree Beechwood might be high also . Seems like a " what have ya done for me lately " type of poll .

Im glad to see the Ads In the top 25,I just don't like them being 13th! I don't like anything 13.:D

Here is an updated Poll....
