Frankfort at Rockcastle County (Cancelled)

Featured Replies

Appears Frankfort High School has cancelled Friday's game with Rockcastle this morning. Appears the once proud Class A program is on life support. Reported very low numbers for the Panthers. The Panthers already cancelled their first scrimmage. Also has been said that Coach Davis terminated his OC this week.

Is Frankfort trending in the wrong direction? Can the overcome their current situation?

They're still high school kids. Yogi hasn't been here a good 4 months and we expect him to change the culture with the snap of his fingers...?

  • Why was Rockcastle playing this game in the first place?

  • Obviously too late to add an opponent for Rockcastle County this week but it does appear Ballard Memorial, Doss, and Mayfield have October 6 open and don't have a full ten-game slate.

Geeze. Who was his OC?

I think it was Coach Atha. Former assistant at Western Hills.

Gotcha, he was one that got fired at Western Hills last year.

Wow I hate to hear this. Hopefully the Panthers can get back on the right track but it doesn't sound good. I had thought their numbers had come up but I guess not.

Frankfort has always had low numbers. On a good year, they MIGHT have 25 players that dress.

Seems like they have been severely bitten by the injury bug early this year, which makes it hard to safely field a team for a game, especially against a quality opponent like Rock.

I'll never understand the recycling of coaches that goes on in Frankfort.

Have you heard the PODCAST? Who at frankfort allowed these kids to do a podcast unsupervised? Frankfort unleashed sports report!! 20 minutes of team members bashing each other, and the coaches, and talking about the game. Cringe worthy for anyone who understands teamwork.

I have not.

I've listened to it, thanks for sending it over.

First thing I'll say... No coach or staff can keep kids from making a podcast. Literally impossible. So if that's an attempted shot at the Frankfort staff, swing and a miss.

As for the content, white it was definitely in poor taste by the participants, I chalk it up to high school kids being stupid high school kids. Their biggest mistake was posting it, obviously. They talked about what plays they should have ran, why what they did didn't work, etc. They did seem to focus in on one particular player with their "criticisms," which I did not like.

In the grand scheme, I would consider this harmless, but for team morale it's a crusher. This was done by a few kids who obviously think they are the best players on the team (maybe they are, that's irrelevant). This would be tough to navigate for any staff IMO, and even more so with a small roster. I certainly wouldn't lay the blame on the staff, because as I mentioned earlier, there is absolutely no way a staff could prevent a few kids from recording a podcast.

When you read up on the podcast it has adults involved In previous episodes they participate. The podcast is affiliated with the school.  So I assumed it had adult involvement as listed in the description. I am sure the coach had no part in it from the conversation and lack of respect shown. But if someone did not see this or has no since  dealt with this its for sure a huge oversight and lack of control at Frankfort. I know you will look at it through rose colored glasses but to those around town and the state... ... it sure is a common joke. Take it as you will.

If I'm looking at it through a certain color glasses, then you certainly are too, from the opposite direction.

It's an issue. It is a bad look for those involved, without question. There is obviously a chemistry issue, otherwise those involved probably wouldn't feel the need to record such an episode.

You're assuming it has consistent adult involvement. You're assuming nothing has been done about it. You're assuming it hasn't been addressed. You want to paint a negative picture on Frankfort as much as possible. I get it, that's your M.O. One podcast episode does not show a lack of oversight at Frankfort like you want it to. I am also confident in saying that people "around the state" aren't talking about this podcast episode (outside of this thread). But hey, you can create whatever narrative that you want, in your own mind.

Like I said take it as you will. But there is a lot wrong with things downtown. This podcast to me sheds light into the current state of your program. If I was a Frankfort fan, I would be on the phone with the school about this embarrassment. The link was shared with me by two people both in different area codes, So not state maybe just region.
