January 15, 200719 yr That's not what I was expecting... I see it's from 2004 though. Do all those numbers hold true now? I'd say no.
January 15, 200719 yr All I got out of all that waste of bandwidth is you don't know the answer to my question.:creepy: :thumb: That was bad.
January 15, 200719 yr What about Minnesota??? Have you ever been to Minnesota? There isn't much there. There's a mall and a couple herds of moose. In NC, at least you have the choice of NC State, Duke , and the Tar Heels to cheer for.
January 15, 200719 yr Not talking about expenses! Top line revenue...nobody still has numbers what the difference is...I refuse to believe UL sells more athletic gear than UK for instance, given the UK fan base is several times larger in basketball...again, until someone provides some solid numbers on why UL takes in millions more in basketball than UK, it's all guesswork... The survey was done in 2004. I would say UL sold just as much merchandise as there was a lot of interest in their program during that time period, fresh off the Pitino hire. It seems they changed uniforms every week back then, and your always gonna have the fans that have to have them. As was said earlier, the numbers have probably changed a lot since.
January 15, 200719 yr I'm most surprised by NC State on that list. They have a pretty new arena with lots of luxury boxes and club seats. Their arena also seats around 20,000.. Not to mention they had a good year or two back then I think, which always generates interest.

January 15, 200719 yr I'm surprised that UNC doesn't top the list. They have on the the larger arenas, and as far as TV when is the ACC not on ESPN. No matter where you go in the country you see a lot of their gear being worn.
January 15, 200719 yr Author I refuse to believe UL sells more athletic gear than UK for instance... Well, I don't know either way, but the numbers I stated are from ESPN, while you refuse to believe, what is solely in your head.

January 15, 200719 yr From what I can gather, U of L garners a ton more money from the the suites that are in Freedom Hall, add that to 90% of the lower level, being the old gray haired club...there's a ton of money, right there...I also believe that the Big East TV contract is substantially better than the SEC's. Bingo. Suites is the key. I would imagine UL's take is better from Freedom Hall than UK's is at Rupp, from parking to concessions. Flip side of that could be scheduling issues. BE contract is probably pretty good, but in 2004 UL was not in BE.

BE contract is probably pretty good, but in 2004 UL was not in BE. UL 24 suites according to their website times $50k/year (guess) - $1.2MM UK 4000 more fans/game times 15 home games times $22 - $1.32MM = WASH Above is some guesswork, but until someone comes up with some facts, all the guesswork is useless...we are looking for a $5.6MM difference in revenue...
January 15, 200719 yr Suites are a big revenue source, and alcohol sales don't hurt either. U of L gets a cut of that as well, something UK doesn't allow. Does U of L get a cut of parking? A lot of the lots around Rupp are privately owned, not part of the center, while the Fair Grounds takes $ 5 a car and unless you want to hike a ways or ferry over from Tailgaters it's the only option.
