Absolutely. If you believe Thiero is able to spell even five minutes at the PG spot, you have not watched a minute of him on the court. Once Wallace went down - not a tremendous ball handler himself - UK has no shot. They were able to patchwork together the second half somehow with Frederick and Reeves rushing the ball up the court. It was honestly miraculous they got back in the game.

It isn't about changing defense, playing zone, offensive plays and strategy. This is very simple. Why did Frederick play 28 minutes and Thiero play 8 minutes? Frederick is not a good ball handler. But he is a Harlem Globtrotter compared to Thiero. It was a matter of survival getting the ball up the court and at least Frederick has the ability to do that.

That is the danger in commenting when I didn't see the game. Appreciate the feedback from everyone. Disappointed to hear Theiro wasn't able to step into that role. I don't trust Reeves handling the ball so it sounds like Frederick was the best option.

Yep, it was bleak once Wallace went down. 

It was really a combo of the main crew rushing the ball up the court. Much of their offense was coming off the defense.

Just now catching up on where this thread went. Theiro needs minutes like he got in todays game against Arkansas. Just don’t have him be the main guy handling the ball. Since Cal has used him at pg some this year because of injuries. I think some people have forgot or didn’t realize that Theiro isn’t a pg. He just had been forced to play there because of injuries. 
 

How Cal used him in todays game was perfect. He still brought the ball up some. However, Cal had Toppin handle the ball much more. Which allowed Theiro to play more off the ball, which is what he naturally is. Let Theiro play defense, rebound, and the other stuff he brings to a game. 
 

When Wallace or Wheeler aren’t in. Reeves and Toppin need to be the main ones handling the ball like Cal had them do today. 

I agree ....he used him just right today. He can rebound and block shots too.
