Winning your inaugural race is REALLY impressive no matter the circumstance.  And an Aussie to boot.

This race had so much to celebrate.  Gisbergen is a living legend (even more so now), he was racing for Project 91 (Trackhouse/Pitbull), and he talked about coming to NASCAR full time after one more year that he is under contract.  

I also like what Kyle Larson had to say (from NASCAR on NBC) about the race and Gisbergen:

KYLE LARSON — Finished 4th: “(Shane van Gisbergen) put on a show and it was cool to see, and I think when a guy like that can come in and kick your (redacted) at your own game, it shows that we all have room to improve. I’m curious what he thinks about us. He obviously passed a lot of us, so I’m curious if he thinks we all suck or if we could actually like compete, if we weren’t really that bad. We come from a different background than him, but it was great to see, and I hope the fans enjoyed it. Congrats to him and the team and Justin Marks. That was really cool to see.”

Remember this is Kyle Larson, probably the most successful NASCAR driver outside of NASCAR in other racing events. 

William Byron won last week at Atlanta and Martin Truex Jr. dominated today on the Magic Mile in New Hampshire.

I like Truex Jr.  Seems to have paid his dues.  Have never heard of William Byron before.  Congrats.

Denny Hamlin won at Pocono after a late controversy with Kyle Larson.  And from NASCAR on NBC here are the current standings.

Chris Buescher won last week at Richmond and again today at Michigan, big surprises there.

My better half is not happy. Between missing the first few races with an injury and being suspended for another, her boy (and NASCAR’s golden boy as well) didn’t qualify for the playoffs this time around.
