As predicted on an earlier thread, the lower bracket of the King of the Bluegrass dominated the upper bracket.  In every head-to-head matchup, the lower bracket team defeated the upper bracket team, leading to lopsided results in last night's games.

Warren Central (lower bracket) beat Great Crossing 89-56 in the championship game

North Oldham (lower bracket) beat Lyon County 107-73 for third place

Sagemont (FL) (lower bracket) beat Larue County 79-55 for fifth place

Trinity (lower bracket) beat Harlan County 74-62 to win the consolation bracket

 

Brackets were absolutely insanely lopsided. Not sure if they do a blind draw or it was intentional or just an honest mistake. Great tourney but a shame they didn’t balance it out a little bit. 

#1 George Rogers Clark was in the upper bracket (so they got beat) #2 Warren Central,  #3 Trinity, #13 Woodford County, #15 North Oldham, #18 DeSales and #24 Manual were in the Upper Bracket.

#6 Male, #7 Great Crossings, and #10 Lyon County were all in the Upper Bracket

1.      I have stayed away from who you are scrimmaging and playing before the tournament and early January. (I had to change one this morning because they found out yesterday, they were playing December 6^th.)

2.      We have three Seventh Region teams, two Sixth Region teams and three Eighth Region teams…they cannot play each other first round.

3.      I bracket on who can get here on Friday without costing another night lodging.

4.      Who can get here for a 4:30 and 6:00 game.

5.      Who is ranked where: 1-2-3-6-7-10-13-15-18-24

6.      Players 2-3-6-10-11-13-16-17-19-20-24-25

7.      Out-of-state teams are guaranteed Saturday.

It’s a great tournament. I don’t care how the brackets are done!

Has there ever been any thoughts on not having out of state teams?

I think Converse Allstar needs to start his/her own tourney since he has the best way to do it.

I’ve been to the first KOB and I’ve been to many others. This tourney rivals many more “higher profile” tournaments throughout the country.

We are very lucky to have this HIGH QUALITY tournament every year.

Thanks to all the hard work of the VOLUNTEERS that have made this great for so long.

King of the Bluegrass is the best high school tournament I’ve been to. Great teams & individuals, coaches and kids are treated right, good value for the fans, friendly volunteers, etc. 

That said, there can still be years (like this one) where the bracket gets unbalanced.

I also doubt that Fairdale will often be paired against one of the tournament favorites , and as host they have definitely earned that right!  

 

Thanks for your kind words. I can't control who wins...and wouldn't want to. That's why we have so many good teams...you had better bring your "A Game" every night.
