Football Playoffs are back in Ft Thomas!

We need all Bluebird Fans to show up and bring that next level energy! Few reminders for Friday night:

Kick off v Montgomery County is at 7:30 PM! 

Due to KHSAA regulations, the only passes that are accepted for KHSAA playoff games are the KHSAA Lifetime passes.   This means that you will not be able to use your Bluebird Passes, Coach Passes, Family Passes or Senior Passes. You must purchase tickets online $4/$6. Get them early!

67 degrees and clear tonight... Perfect type of fall night for a high school playoff football game.

I have been told that the 8th grade championship team will be leading the team onto the field tonight.  What an experience for those kids to see and feel what high school playoff football is all about.

Coach Sphire and other staff members made it a point this year to invite State Champ teams of prior years as pregame guests and it has been met with great success.

Good luck to both teams tonight and stay injury free.

For those parents of these 8th grade kids, tell them to have fun and soak it all up because next year they will look to continue the process of getting this program back to where it belongs, ON TOP.

I guess the '98 State Championship team didn't make the cut this year... Hopefully in the future.

To add to the above, Male won 4A that year with a 31 to 7 victory over Tates Creek.  Additionally, Tates Creek was undefeated going into that game including a 37 to 14 victory over Trinity the week before the loss to Male in the finals.

What was crazy about that team was the OLine... 6'-4" 110 Lbs and 5-7 140 Lbs was the type of dudes blocking for Lorenzen and crew.... crazy.

Could be a slight exaggeration haha... but we had 2 O linemen that were total bean poles.  They were mean blockers though. They'd get those long arms extended and it just take you one direction.  All Lorenzen needed.

I officiated in that Male game at Beechwood. Really good game with some outstanding players on both sides. After the game Male coach Bob Redman said to me "Was that a great game or what?.....and we lost". That Highlands team was a really good team. One of the finest I had the privilege of working games for in my years on the field.

Sophomore DB/WR Bret Hamblen did not play in the Male game because he had just joined the team that week. He was probably one of the top 5 best players on the team by the state game.
