Cards Flying Above The Noise, Jags Looking To Make Some

Records: Scott County (9-1) | Cooper (6-4)

BGP Ranking: Scott County (#2 in 5A)

Series History: First ever meeting

Table Setter: Doubt the Cardinals at your own risk. That's one of the lessons learned from the last five weeks. Scott County was written off by many, following another discouraging setback against Frederick Douglass. Instead of packing it in, they stayed the course to win five straight, including knocking off top contenders in 6A and 4A, as well as beating back their upstart county neighbor with a running clock. Not much changes in Georgetown. If you've watched Jim McKee's teams at any point in the last two decades, you know what's coming. They hit you with a variety of ball carriers and play sound defense.

Cooper has been on a rollercoaster ride this season. Down, up, down, up, down, up. The Jags were on the ascent with three straight wins before Highlands brought them crashing down again. They've come out on the losing end against the top competition on the schedule, but the talent is there to make things interesting against almost everyone in 5A not clad in orange and green. Tackling machine Jack Lonaker and star end Austin Alexander will need to be at their disciplined best against an offense that thrives on deception.
