Coaching Change @ Cawood

Featured Replies

You aren't looking at the big picture.

You could go a couple of different ways. You could hire the new Harlan County coach with a season to start the process at Cawood or hire someone who is going to be an assistant at Harlan County.

I agree completely, but from what I have heard, would they actually do that? I don't know if they would hire the head coach for HCHS to start at Cawood. Hiring someone who would be an assisstant may be appealing to them, though.

The rumor I hear would be the best thing for Cawood to do if it is true. If the rumor I hear is correct this person would be a the best choice also for the coaching job at the new school. He might just know a few things about the x's and o's of the game.

Eric Perry (former Harlan Defensive Coordinator) just named head coach at Cawood.

WOW! This one took me totally by suprise. My sources out of Harlan County were off on this one, thought it was going to be someone else. This is absolutely a great hire for Cawood. Couldn't of hired a better man for the job. Coach Perry will do an outstanding job as a head coach.

The rumor I heard was correct:thumb:

I am happy with this decision. If only he had more time. I would have loved to had him there when I played.

I never thought I would see this day. Coach Perry definitely used to not be a Cawood fan, even more so than some of the other coaches at Harlan. I am happy for him getting a chance to be a HC, but this one is going to hurt (and I mean HURT) Harlan starting next year. To a Harlan fan this is like Pitino skipping the Celtics and going straight from UK to U of L. I see this hire as definitely being the first HC at the new school. However, as a Harlan follower I have to say, et tu Eric?

Great choice for Cawood Coach Perry is very solid and will give the Trojans a new look. Look for him to go into the middle schools and make sure the kids that can help will be on the field and not in study hall.

Miss me Waggle? Anyway, I'm not that surprised. Coach Perry has a young family and has to look at the future. from that perspective also. Harlan City just doesn't have much to offer financially to an assistant coach, and I'm sure the Cawood job is a positive in that way. Its time for Eric, and with JB prob. set for about 3 more years at Harlan, he needs to take opportunities as they come as we all do professionally. And I disagree that this is going to hurt the Dragons as much as you think. Coach Shope has had a couple years of discipling from Eric and with his own positive ideas, promises to be an up and comer. The coming year is going to be a tough one for the Big Green anyway from a personel point of view, so will be hard to judge. I know that the Dragon D owes a lot to Coach Perry. He will be missed, but come Rax Bowl......sorry Eric. Go Big Green Beat Trojans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How long was this job posted.....

Seriously, how long was this job posted? If Coach Perry is a para-professional and not someone employed by the school as a teacher, counselor, etc., this job should have been posted for at least 30 days before any decision was made to hire a man outside the school system.

"The Brain" are you showing anger because Coach Perry left Harlan, or are upset because you possibly wanted the job at Cawood.

Eric Perry's defense will hold Harlan next season hopefully he will put a lot of emphasis on special teams since it is the most important facet of the game. Next year neither Harlan or Cawood will score much. Unless Coach Perry steals the cornfield spread from Tuck Woolum.
