They are actively working on it, feel for them in this heat we are currently having.

I sure hope not. Call me nostalgic, but I like those old stadiums. Dayton's stands and field has its problems, much like Newport is running into now, but I would hate to see such a stadium fall into r

Was at Davis Field for the youth football game, talk about some nostalgia, this gave me goosebumps. Haven’t been on or inside here since playing here on Friday nights almost 30 years ago.

I know this was posted a while back. I heard recently that there are plans of commemorating or adding something to the new stadium in honor of Davis Field. This idea posted would still be awesome and I suggested it to others involved with the school. I am not sure of what is being planned but supposedly something is.

That's awesome!!!

Things are moving along, plenty to still do. Here are some current pictures.

Quite a bit more has been done, the plan is to be done by 8/13. Whether done by then or not, it’s going to be one hell of a complex. I got to walk into the construction site and everything is well bigger than it looks from walking or driving past.

Here are more recent pictures.

Heck yeah!!! The athletes hat will get to play at this stadium are beyond blessed. In your opinion, do you think the architecture looks same as the “others” or unique to Dayton Highschool? With NewCaths new field coming to fruition to me that field looks unique for NCC (granted it’s pictures only still). I loved all the stadiums who had that one and only look.

I believe that it’s going to be unique to Dayton. I think one thing really cool about it is being between the elementary school, high school, and the old park almost being in a triangle. It’s definitely going to be great for the kids growing up there, as well as for others that they will play against. It’s definitely going to be different from Davis Field, there’s no question about that. Davis Field may be in rough shape now, but there was nowhere in KY more unique than there in my opinion. I know others have posted it, but being in Davis truly was like being back in time compared to a lot of how the town is now and definitely compared with other football stadiums.

Just posted, they sound very confident that the new complex will be ready for football season. They are planning a grand opening on 8/14.

I remember playing at Davis field in high school as an away opponent. It was an awesome atmosphere to play at. Coaching there as an away opponent and as somebody who coached at Dayton, it was even better. It really embodied the Friday night feels. A really cool pace. I hate to see it go, but the new stadium will be a really cool upgrade!

I am extremely happy for the Dayton program, AND happy for those worked in the old press box at Davis Field.  I will not miss the 63 steep steps leading up to the top of the facility.  The steps had rotted out over the years and were hazardous going up and moreso, coming down, often with the lights off, while carrying equipment..

She was a grand old stadium, but definitely time for a change.

Am looking forward to visiting the new digs!!!

How good of a view do the houses on the Ohio side have of the field? The ones on top of the hill can use binoculars and watch the game possibly. Talk about a fun set up for them.

We had a coach on staff at Dayton who grew up in Ohio on that hill and said he could remember seeing O.W. Davis field from where he lived.

The hike up the bleachers won’t be like Davis was for sure lol. It’s coming together.
