Yes. Third round Wednesday. 

Should be interesting. Looks like two of the four best teams will be done after the first round.

No worries. I think that should be a really good ballgame. Honestly, three of the four look to be excellent games and the Somerset/Southwestern will probably be close as well.

Good question. I've heard some theories but nothing official.

I suspect one reason is to avoid the pitching advantage the two teams that win on opening night would have later in the tournament. Another reason is since the tournament was moved up a week, there was no ability to play four first round games on Memorial Day as has often happened in the past.

I know its probably not realistic because of a lack of pitching depth for teams, but I wish baseball playoffs operated under a double elimination system like they do in college.  Making everything one and done just seems like a very random way to crown a champion in this sport.

West Jessamine defeated Boyle County, 3-2. I thought the Rebels were playing better than anyone the last few weeks having won 12 of their last 13. However, the one loss was to West Jessamine. Tonight was the second.

Time and weather would be an issue as well, but a double elimination tournament with only the winner advancing in district, region, four-team sectionals, and four-team state tournaments would be lots of fun. 

Danville knocked off Mercer County, 6-1.

Somerset rolled Southwestern, 13-3.

Danville vs. Rockcastle/Wayne winner tomorrow at 6.

West Jessamine vs. Somerset at 8.

Wayne beat Rock, so Danville vs. Rock tomorrow at The Patch.
