Well some district champ isn’t going to be happy now when they draw Beechwood in the first round of the region.

And Beechwood is not going to like their draw in the regional regardless of who it is. The road to a regional title is a lot more difficult now.

More difficult yes, but I still like their chances to win the 9th. I honestly like their chances to win the whole thing this year.

They are definitely a contender, but baseball is the most unpredictable of all the sports.

As evidenced by this game vs the Colonels.  When you go into a tournament game with a, “knowing we’re going to win” attitude, and don’t play very well, you’re beat in baseball - every time.  Exactly what happened with the Tigers against Pikeville in the All A State Championship earlier this season.  You think they’d learn their lesson?  Here’s hoping third times the charm.  Should be a good 9th Region Tourney this year.  I have to say, I don’t much like the Y’Alls / TM Stadium - Meinken split with games. The 9th is a great fit at Y’Alls / TM Stadium.  JMO

I don't buy the "knowing we're going to win" attitude being a reason for a loss. I want my team to "know they are going to win" every game. Baseball is baseball. When you get in a game against another competitive team, it is a bit of a crap shoot every game. Weird things happen in games. Pikeville's #9 hitter was hitting less than .200 and was the hitting star of the game against Beechwood. A team can get a few blooper hits at the right time in a close game and you win or lose. Beechwood beat Cov Cath a couple weeks ago 1-0. I don't think that game made Beechwood overconfident and unfocused against their biggest rival in a district championship game. It's baseball. The most unpredictable of all sports.

This couldn't be more true. If you don't go into the game believing you will win, you WILL get beat in baseball every time. Baseball is the one game where you can do everything right, be the better team, and still lose. And in a one game playoff, crazy things can happen. And I'd rather my team be confident and sure of themselves going into that type of game.
