I had the pleasure of getting to know both Mel and the late Dale McMillen.  Those guys were true ambassadors of youth athletics, especially on the girls side.  Add in the late Stan Steidel and Chuck Oaks and you have a true collection of people who get it and understand what it means to serve your community.  RIP Mel

A fitting and beautiful tribute to Mel, with a moment of silence, at NKU last night between the two girls' semi-final games.  Such an icon in NKY, hope his family and close friends are warmed by great memories.

That's what I was just thinking....the amount of historical sports knowledge around northern Kentucky was just decimated.
