What has hurt the 39th District over the last 15 to 20 years and to Mason Co.'s advantage has been the consolidation with Maysville, the closing of Tollesboro, and the moving of Fleming Co. out of the district and region last year. Used to be some very interesting draws and upsets when it was a five team district.

Does anyone know how the districts are choosen? It can't be on the size of the school (1A,2A, etc.). And, how do schools petition to have their asigned district changed. I did not know that was possible.

I agree that Fleming should have been left in the 39th. Pendleton Co. came out smelling like a rose moving away from Campbell Co & Brossart and in with Deming and Nicholas Co. It also made sense to move Estill Co. out of the 10th but I don't necessarily agree with moving the Kenton Co. schools in.

From what I have been told, supposedly, the realignment was done geographically, so that teams would not have to travel as far. An example of this not working out is Henry County and Eminence. They are located just a few miles apart, are in the same county, but are not in the same district.

 

I am not sure that teams can petition to change districts, but they can send letters of dissent, though this, would likely change nothing.

It seems like Mason County has been trying to see how well they can play some Lexington schools, it is kinda ridiculious with the setup the have in the 39th and well the region.

Not that I would want them to leave the 10th but they have beaten just about everybody here.

Sorry but it just wouldn't be the 10th region if you took out the royals and the tournament out of the fieldhouse. Regions are established geographically not by ability levels or even the size of schools. That is what makes Kentucky basketball and the sweet 16 special. :confused:

Why do you assume that I'm asking the question for Williamsburg? Corbin and Whitley weren't exactly thrilled about the alignment.

I'm still trying to understand why all the Bullitt County schools were put in the same district, but the two Laurel County schools, both located in London, were placed in separate districts.

Good question. What about Corbin and Lynn Camp? When you look at some of the districts, geography doesn't really seem to matter.

Nobody wanted to be placed in the district with South Laurel. Knox Central came out of this in great shape. 3 small schools to compete with. Is there any ADs in the 13th who would not trade districts with them?

If it is geography how can Tates Creek, Dunbar, and Lafayettebe in a different district than Bryan Station, when all of the schools are in the same city?????????????????????????????????????????????

Basketball districts are a Darn joke. Period. Don't even try to back it up with the sweet 16 tourney. The all A classic makes almost as much money in Richmond. It's sad and a waste of time for schools.
