Well you need them all but Bush does the things that go unnoticed that win you games. So kids are winners and Johnny is one of them. Only fools don't realize how good Euton and Jackson are.

Some of the best wins for improving a team are those that do not come easily. As some have said already, Rose Hill's offense was not firing on all cylinders. The jump shot was missing from basically all but Johnny Bush. Some nights you have to find another way to win and Rose Hill did just that.

 

Great games off the bench from Chase Jackson, Johnny Bush, and #23(sorry, I don't know his name). I will also agree that this game was won on the defensive end of the floor by Rose Hill.

 

Great effort by Fairview. Good game to watch.

 

Side note: No complaints about the refs. IMO - They did their jobs and pretty much faded into the background in this game.

I couldn't agree more about the officiating. I really like all 3 officials, IMO they always call a solid game.

A couple of games tonight that were closer than expected in the 16th. It looks

like things will be interesting in early March.

Good win for Rose Hill.

 

I think this shows that, once again, the 16th region is more balanced than many people thought it would be. Raceland played Russell tough tonight, but ultimately Russell is the lead dog in this race. That said, the pack doesn't appear to be all that far behind...

Great game plan by Coach Cooksey.He had the Eagles in position for the win.RH hit some key shots especially Bush and Malloy.Two big offensive droughts in the second half hurt Fairview.Right now the 64th is by far the most competitive district in the 16th region with Rose Hill,Ashland and Boyd at the top and a

Fairview team that is very capable of an upset.

Rex may have showed his cards a little early in this one. This was basically a junk type defense. This will allow Rose Hill to be prepared come tournament time. I may have played it more straight up and suprised them in march. The good news for Rose Hill is they didnt play very well and still won. Last year if they didnt play well they got beat by Augusta. This shows they are making big strides. Give fairview credit the had alot to do with them not playing very well. Good game plan by fairview's staff. I think Rex would like to give everyone credit not just him. That is a pretty impressive coaching staff. Not just Rex but Jerry Davis was a head coach in ohio for 25 or 30 years. Jeff Hall is very good and throw in Joe Barker and Dereck Cooksey and Jason Strader they are alot of knowledge there. Rose Hill's staff did a good job. Remember Rose Hill is very very young dont get your expectations to high to early that can cause alot of pressure for a young team. Enjoy the success of every win while the team is going through this transition of becoming a great team.

That's always been a tough place to play. I agree the officiating was solid for the most part. They let the kids play, which is what I like frankly, and that allowed the Fairview kids to have their hands on Euton all night. Some officials in this region would have blown a gasket with that kind of contact and Fairview would have had some kids on the bench. I would say they'd have a seat next to Rex, but Rex was so far out on the floor he was called for three lane violations. He literally had to get out of the way twice. Is there not a limit to your getting on the floor? At the end of the game when Fairview was trying to foul to stop the clock and send RH to the line, someone from the stands yelled "You foul him Rex, you're alot closer". Fantastic game out of Alex Barker. No limit to his motor! And same can be said for Johnny Bush, non-stop defensive nightmare! Not to mention, he'll stick it in your eye if you leave him unguarded! Good win on the road when you don't play your A game,,,,very encouraging!:thumb:

I agree with most of what you say.I'm sure that Rex would be the first to acknowledge the contributions of the coaching staff.I disagree with the part about"playing your cards early"-You have to coach to win the game that is next on your schedule.There is no guarantee that RH and Fairview will meet in the first round of the district.Besides if Fairview hadn't played RH that way someone else would have.The coaches in the 16th are too good not to at least attempt what the Eagles did. it.I also agree that Rh is very young but they are also very seasoned.

I thought Coach Cooksey put together a good game plan, double and triple teaming the freshmen Euton. However, I thought Coach Fraley made some adjustments at half time, and did a great job getting other players involved. Johnny Bush, Alex Malloy and Tony Arthur did a good job guarding Alex Barker in the second half.

 

Congratulations to Coach Fraley and the Royals.

Great game plan by Rex and the eagles. The Royals hung tough and won one with defense and free throw shooting down the stretch. Great job by the Rose Hill guards to limit Barkers looks in the second half. Positive minuetes by Chase Jackson as well.

Notice that the kids that NEVER seem to get tired - like Barker for Fairview and Bush for RH - are current or former cross-country runners. Not saying that XC is perfect conditioning for basketball, but many times it is helpful.

 

I know Bush and Barker not only ran or run cross country but are very good at it. Good Point.
