The top three teams are clear in both who they are and what order they are currently ranked. Beyond that it’s a mess of parity. As we hit the home stretch teams continue to jockey for district seeds and solidify their personnel. 

 

Team Rankings   

1.      Pulaski County – Pulaski defeated Rockcastle County in the state’s only Sunday game this past week to remain undefeated and the only team with zero losses in the entire state. They have a busy week this week with Clinton County, Somerset, and Perry County Central. 

2.      Boyle County – The Rebels blew out two district opponents last week as they toppled Garrard County and Danville. Jakei Tarter is starting to emerge as the perfect complement to Luke Imfeld as he registered 15 rebounds in the win over the Golden Lions and 19 points in the victory at Danville. They face Collins and Madison Central this week. 

3.      Lincoln County – The Patriots have recovered nicely since their loss to Boyle County and have put together a 4 game win streak, the most recent wins being over Danville, Danville Christian and Southwestern. Jaxon Smith and Colton Ralston both made 4 three-pointers in the win over Danville Christian. They travel to Madison Central and Garrard County this week. 

4.      Rockcastle County – The Rockets defeated Whitley County before falling to the undefeated Pulaski County Maroons. Matthew Chasteen and Jake Sanders both now have over 100 rebounds. Sanders grabbed 15 in the loss to Pulaski. They host Berea, Mason County, and Danville this week.  

5.      West Jessamine – Gavin Salva is still not back in the lineup but Daniel Waters got the Colts back in the win column over Southwestern behind his 26 points. They face Robertson County, Mercer County, and Model this week.  

6.  Danville Christian – Danville Christian fell to insurgent Wayne County and powerful Lincoln County this past week but was competitive in both. They look to score a win over Model before facing off against Murray in the first round of the All A state tournament.  

7.  Somerset – The Briar Jumpers got a win over Casey County behind Jack Bruner’s 18 points and Indred Whitaker’s 16. They face Madison Southern, Pulaski County and Adair County this week. 

8.  Wayne County – The Cardinals defeated Danville Christian before dropping losses to Evangel Christian and Russell County. They face Somerset Christian, Southwestern, and Cumberland County this week. 

9.      Danville – The Ads got blown out twice this past week at the hands of contenders as they lost to Lincoln County and Boyle County. They look to recover this week as they face Garrard County and Rockcastle County. 

10.        McCreary Central – The Raiders were off last week and have just one game this week, a road contest at Somerset Christian. 

11.      Garrard County – The Golden Lions fell to Boyle County but squeaked out a home win over Frankfort by 2. They face Danville, Lincoln County and Bell County this week. 

12.  Mercer County – The Titans bested Nelson County on the road behind Seth Caton and Evan Hart’s dual 12 point performances. They play three road games this week against East Jessamine, West Jessamine and Franklin County.  

13.  Casey County – The Rebels fell to Somerset and Metcalfe County last week. They face Adair County, Somerset Christian and Anderson County this week.  

14. Somerset Christian – The Cougars traveled to the KCAC Tournament at Highlands Latin where they narrowly lost to Portland Christian by 1 and defeated host Highlands Latin by 2. They face McCreary Central, Wayne County, Casey County and Pineville this week. 

15.  Southwestern – The Warriors lost to West Jessamine and Lincoln County last week. They host Estill County, Wayne County and Somerset Christian this week.  

16.  East Jessamine – The Jaguars only got to play Woodford County last week and that was a forty point loss. They are scheduled to play three home games this week against Mercer County, Frankfort and Bluegrass United. They have not been on their home floor for a game since December 17^th. 

17.  Burgin – The Bulldogs defeated Model before going back on Covid protocols. They will be out all this week. 

Looks pretty spot on to me. Other than Mccreary Central, Mercer County and Garrard County should all be ranked ahead of Danville. Mccreary and Mercer County beat them head to head. Garrard County plays them this week but I think Garrard is the better team. Mason Sulla will be the difference in the game. Any team with size the Ads have no chance. But when it's all said and done I'll think it's going to be Lincoln vs PC for the regional championship. 

We will find out tomorrow night if the Ads want to be in the hunt. Garrard barely beat Frankfort team that Danville beat earlier 71-57.  I think the game will be close. If Ads can get big points from Hayden it’s trouble for Garrard. Think Dunn and Bryant play well vs GC.

Brown and Bryant have to start contributing for Danville. Hayden and Dunn need them to step up. I still think Qusinberry and Cooper will be too much for Danville. We'll see! Lol

I thought most of the year Lincoln was biggest threat to PC.  I'm starting to turn towards Boyle County.  Imfeld is the best big shot maker in the region, and their role players are starting to thrive as well.

Yes Lincoln has not preformed like most thought they would. With the editions of Smith and Bishop you would think LC would be competitive with PC. Lincoln is still dangerous but they have to start picking up the pace going into the district. Boyle seems to be playing better and 2nd seed seems to be wide open at this point.

So what surprises me about Lincoln is that they have four dangerous producers but none of those four has really exploded in production. 
 

That characteristic makes them a good team but until somebody steps up and does some explosive production, I don’t think they can be great.

I think Lincoln's style of play gets them outed this year. It has fit his teams for the last century it feels like, but this team to me is different and needs to run more. We shall see.

If we had gotten any scoring from Hayden & Dunn tonight we beat Garrard. Got to find consistent effort. Freshman Brown played huge tonight. 

Pulaski is the team to beat. Lincoln and Boyle both have a chance to compete for the regional title, but they have to go through PC. Lincoln is struggling to find out who is the leader of that team. Even contribution me from there top 4 is impressive but I don’t think it helps you win a regional title. Boyle arguably has the best player in the region with Imfeld but if a team can contain him, BC is very beatable. Imfeld vs Travis will be a fun matchup when BC and PC meet in Feb.

His '07 and '08 regional championship teams pushed the pace.  Hopefully Bishop getting his footing, will help them rebounding the ball which leads to outlet passes and transition game.

I agree with your statement regarding Lincoln.  Jaxson Smith needs to step up as the alpha (he led them on a great run as a FR), and others need to fill in their roles.   

I think Lincoln has too many Guards. Jaxon Smith and Tramane Alcorn dont look comfortable on the court with the addition of Evan Smith. It looks like they sit back and watch Evan and Colton shoot the ball. Not saying the addition of Evan Smith is hurting them but those two have struggled this year. Also, William Bishop is done for the rest of the year, with knee pain again. I feel so bad for that kid, injuries have taken a toll on him. Hopefully next year he's 100% I still think Lincoln and PC will be there at the end. Boyle County is good but I don't see them beating Lincoln the next two times they play. 

And I agree Jaxon Smith has got to start taking over. This is his team, he's  been starting since 8th grade. I do wish Coach Jackson would let his kids play, that slow down offense he runs does not suit this team well. They would be a more dangerous team if he turned them loose and let them run. Tramane and Jaxon are not very good shooters, so getting the ball and go would help them get points in transition.
