Air Force 31 Louisville 28

Air Force was one of the top rushing schools in the country, and ended up posting 252 yards and 2 TDs passing yesterday. That's 20% of their entire passing yardage for the 2021 season. They had been averaging 341 yards rushing per game coming into the First Responders Bowl, and only ended up with half of that yesterday, with 170 yards and 2 TDs rushing.

Too many DB's out and Air Force took advantage of it. That's good coaching by Air Force. Louisville had their chances but couldn't convert. Glad Kicker got benched after missed FG because he's been bad all season. Bottom line is need to improve defense next year if want to win at least 8 games. Guess we'll see next year. Could be Satterfield's last year if doesn't get it done next year.

So Purdue in the Big 10 is not as good of a job as Louisville in the ACC?

I don't think any implications were made about how Purdue and UofL stack up or the Big 10 Conference vs. the ACC.

In Brohm's first season at Purdue (2017) he took the Boilermakers from an 3-9 record the year prior to a 7-6 record and a their first bowl appearance in 5 seasons. But Brohm is currently only bragging a 19-25 career record at Purdue.

If you look at the same general time frame, Louisville had a 9-4 season in 2016 with an appearance in the Citrus Bowl, an 8-5 record in 2017 with an appearance in the TaxSlayer Bowl, and then a dismal 2-10 season in 2018 that got Petrino canned mid-season largely on account of his lack of recruiting desire/ability.

There's no denying Brohm's major ties to Kentucky, to Louisville, and to UofL. It's hard telling whether or not it would have been a dream job for him, but the conversation between the Cardinals and Brohm was taking place. If they weren't stuck having to tread carefully on account of the damage left in the wake of Tom Jurich and the fact that Vince Tyra had to start his search for a new head football coach for the Cardinals literally in his 5th week on the job as then-interim AD, there's a very real possibility that the Brohm hire could have happened for Louisville.

I don't know if this was by initial design, or the facilities directors at SMU just didn't want to get things set only to have to change last minute due to a COVID drop out, but if there's not even going to be an attempt to paint the field with the names and colors of the participants, it's probably a bowl game that doesn't need to be played.
