Two tired teams.

Holmes jumped off to a quick 4 pt lead in OT. TJ hit a 3 and then CCH went up. Rice missed a basket at the buzzer.

CovCath prevails in OT 42, 41 Over Holmes in Fifth-Third Bank Classic Consolation Game

Game tied at 37 in regulation.

WOW!!! Classic Holmes vs CovCath here lately. Seems to always go down to the wire.

83 pts in 4.5 quarters, unusual for these two programs.

Yeah, I'd say unusual however both teams have played a lot of basketball in the last 2-3 days. So understandably, both teams were probably tired. I'm sure it didn't lack any emotion.

1st half, Hill had 3 points on 1-9 shooting and TJ had 0 points on 0-5 shooting. Grimes of CovCath and Rice of Holmes, two of the best finishers in the region, both had at least 3 missed layups a piece. Bovard and Brown had a few turnovers, uncharacteristic of two normally solid players.

Someone said ugly? I think that is quite an understatement.

Before this game I told many that it meant nothing, and even though CovCath won, it still means nothing. Each team played hard, but I don't think either team did anything special. Trust me, on January 16 at CovCath anyone who witnessed this match up at LexCath (and not many did), will not see any rezemblience to either team that played today......

CovCath - Holmes

FG 14/47 - 15/43

FG% 29.8 - 34.9

3Pt 5/16 - 2/5

3pt% 31.3

FTM 9/11 - 9/10

Forget to mention, that Todd Jacobs along with Austin Hill, were voted to the all tourney team. Congrats to both........

BTW, Crazies it would be nice if on January 3 at Beechwood, the Crazies showed up big time, and welcomed back Billy properly (maybe even a theme centered around welcoming back Billy)......He has been gone far too long, and the Colonels need his heart and soul out on that floor....

Sounds really ugly. But both teams made their free throws.:thumb:

It's a good thing they did or neither team would have cracked 40 points.

i wouldn't put much stock in this game as both teams were obviously drained from playing so much the past few days. And as TOG said, we'll see two completely different teams come Jan 16th. We'll also see someone back in a Holmes uni that night :D

But congrats to Covcath on the win.

Will that be Jefferson first game back? Billy Schult will be back on the 3rd of January against Beechwood, so Billy will have some actual game time experience after his injury, prior to the Holmes game.

Not sure. Duran would like to be back prior to that, but if not, yes that SHOULD be his first game back.

Jefferson is a great player, but if this is going to be his first game back, don't look for much help from him, from on the floor. Now understand I am not at all knocking Jefferson at all, just trying to say that anytime you come off a injury and or away from the game a long time, it takes a while to get back into GAME shape... Practice and even scrimmaging isn't the same thing as actual game minutes. fballsud06 I think you will agree with me on that? I just hope the young man and his coach realize that his playing in this basketball game, isn't the most important thing for him in his long term future.....unless he is 100% healthy.....and then if he is, then go at it....
