I'm going to take a swing each week at ranking the NKY Girls Basketball Top 10 teams, so be kind, this is going to be a daunting undertaking.  However, there is a lot of good girls' basketball being played in this part of the state, and anything I can do to help stimulate conversation, interest, and keep their hard work top of mind, I'm up for.  Feel free to disagree (I know you will), offer alternative thoughts, but remember to please be positive and constructive.

This part of the state feels like it has three or four tiers of teams:  the top 3 will likely be the top 3 all year, and they will likely only suffer NKY losses to each other.  Then there are 3 teams in the next tier, and potentially could become 4 if Highlands gets their two key players back that have been missing thus far.  Then you have a group that will battle against the middle tier, and hopefully as the season unfolds that third tier will clearly lay out there order as well.  This early in the year it is tough, but as December unfolds, and then into the new year, things should crystalize and clarify.  For now, here we go...again, be kind.  ?

1.  Ryle (3-0):  this week they go to #6 Conner and to #5 Holy Cross.

2.  Notre Dame (2-0):  this week they cross the river twice, going to St. Ursula (OH)and to Ursuline (OH).

3.  Cooper (2-0):  this week they go to #6 Conner and to Montgomery County.

4.  Dixie (2-1):  this week they go to #5 Holy Cross, host Scott, and go to Owen County.

5.  Holy Cross (2-1):  this week they host #4 Dixie, #1 Ryle, and #9 Highlands.  Wow, we'll learn a lot about HC this week.

6.  Conner (2-0):  this week they host #1 Ryle, host #3 Cooper, and host Mason County.  Also a really tough week!

7.  Walton Verona (2-1):  this week they host Carroll County and Grant County.

8.  Ludlow (2-0):  this week they are at Boone County, at Calvary Christian, and host Harrison County.

9.  Highlands (0-2):  this week they host Owen County, host Mercy McAuley (OH), and are at #5 Holy Cross.

10. Campbell Co. (1-2):  this week they are at NewCath and host Lloyd.

My next group to keep an eye on:

*  NewCath

*  Simon Kenton

*  Scott

*  Newport

*  Grant Co.

*  St. Henry

*  Lloyd

Great week of hoops coming up, hope everyone stays healthy, and good luck to all of our NKY young ladies on the hardwood.

Great job.

Great job buddy!  Just curious, who are 2 out currently for Highlands?  All I have seen is the scores of their games and was really worried it will be a LONG season for the Birds, but now you give me hope saying there might be some talent currently missing.

Harris and Gessner -- and thanks Frank, I really appreciate that.

Good work.  I need to see Cooper play, but I almost suggest the top 3 are 1a., 1b., and 1c.  It will be interesting to see state rankings.  I find it hard to believe that there are 10 teams better than those 3 in the state.  I could be wrong.  This should be fun to follow!

Yessir, well aware of all of their records and resumes.  They are fairly high on my 'next list.

I think we can circle February 15th as the best regular season game in NKY when Ryle travels to Notre Dame.

Ryle is up 18-16 at half at Bill Warfield court!

32-27 end of 3 Ryle

Ryle takes advantage of depth and wins by 20 with nice run in 4th to close It out!
