Cougars and Bears boldly go where they've never been before

Records: Logan County (9-4), Spencer County (9-3)

BGP Ranking: Logan County (#7 in 4A), Spencer County (#9 in 4A)

Series History: First ever meeting

Table Setter: Logan County fended off a furious rally from Hoptown last week to keep alive one of the finest seasons in program history and possibly their deepest postseason penetration ever. The trio of quarterback Davin Yates (21 total touchdowns), running back Ryan Rasso (nearly 1,000 rushing yards), and all-purpose athlete Wyatt Blake (over 1,100 yards from scrimmage and 17 touchdowns) have been the centerpiece of an offense that's averaged 39 ppg in their wins and just 8 ppg in their losses, though the losses have come against quality opposition with a combined record of 28-6.

Add Spencer County to that list of quality opposition. The Bears are enjoying the deepest playoff run of their 17 year existence. They eked by John Hardin to claim a district championship with a walk-off two run homer in the bottom of the 9th to win 7-5. The Bears boast the state's #4 rushing offense, with five different ball carriers topping 500 yards this year.

Most of the football world in this state will be following some of the more glamorous games being played, but this might be the most "feel good" contest of the night. Two teams with little history to speak of, reaching for the next rung on the ladder to write their own history.

Great synopsis, I am so happy for Mike Marksbury, a coach who squeezes every last drop of effort out of his players, everyone hustles, everyone is positive, everyone leaves it all on the field. Very admirable to watch. Go Bears!

The Logan County Cougars have had a great year. Lots of youth playing big mins for Coach Adler. They are 9-3 (One of the losses was for COVID and was rescheduled and played). Behind Wyatt Blake and Ryan Rayno leading the rushing attack add in 6 ft 5 Zane Batten into the passing game Logan will be a handful.
Spencer runs a wing T offense which is always difficult. Logan has played two teams this season that ran this offense (Greenwood and Franklin Simpson).
Logan 24-14

Apologies to Ryan Rayno for getting his name wrong earlier. Auto correct got me and I didn't catch it. Thanks for posting it correctly.
