Holladay, Courtney, and now starting Safety and WR Moore will not be able to play another high school football game. After Courtney going down while playing a position on special teams that he had no business playing, wouldn't you have thought coach Rash would have learned his lesson? NOPE. He kept the starters in the second half leading to B. Moore knee injury. When entering the second half with a running clock, what is the point of leaving the starters in especially when you are playing a team that your JV team can handle. Correct me if I am wrong, but RPI does not matter in the playoffs. It does not matter if you beat a team 58-8 or 58-20 all that matters is you survive and advance -- which Beechwood's JV team would have been able to do against Newport. I usually have only good things to say about Rash and his football program but this was an absolute horrible decision leading to an injury that could have easily been prevented. With two Tigers getting hurt that usually start on both sides of the ball, some guys will have to step up in order for this miraculous season to end with a ring.

Hate to hear that news.

Don't break the routine. Let starters come out to start the second half to put in any adjustments or coaching moves from halftime. Keep that season long routine going so you don't have to gear it back up later in the playoffs.

Has Courtney been on the kickoff team all year? If yes, why would you not have him out there?

Injuries happen unfortunately and there is no way to predict when.

Beechwood is very deep. Perhaps the deepest roster Beechwood has ever had. There were 60+ on the sideline last night. There are 20, maybe more, players who have started and/or have 2 years of varsity first team experience. Yes, Beechwood will miss those injured players. It will definitely hurt the rotation and ability to keep players fresh. But the drop off will not be as big as what it would be on most other teams.

I was informed of Brady Moore as well. He will be missed tremendously. He’s a ball hawk on both offense and defense. But as it’s been said by others. This roster is deep. We can still get the job done despite losing those players. If anyone is able to put together schemes and game plans to make up for the injuries, it’s the Beechwood coaching staff. I’ve not lost faith yet. I still believe they can win the whole thing.

I know our radio guys rave about how deep and talented the JV is.

True on the ejection and personal fouls. It should be noted some Newport players did not dress last night apparently due to discipline issues. That did not change the actions or attitudes of some of the players that did dress for Newport. Newport had fewer than 20 players in uniform last night. They had to leave their first team on the field in the 4th quarter while Beechwood played its freshman team.

So Newport, who lost by 29 to NCC, dressed fewer than 20 players this week against Beechwood, but Beechwood didn't manage to accidentally score like 60 points on them in a single half of football like they did last week against NCC? Got it.

Yikes... leave it in the past. Even if Rash came out and said he did it to prove a point and boost his own ego, who cares. It's embarrassing whether you give up 50 or 70.

It sucks, but the most silly risk that Rash could take through these first couple of weeks of the playoffs is not having his guys prepared to play after halftime when it is finally not a running clock in a later round. Routine, adjustments, etc. are worked on in that first second half series of most blowouts.

As far as coach Rash having to learn ANYTHING about coaching... his resume speaks for itself and any parent who would question his resume better come toting multiple rings that they won as a head coach too.

Courtney playing special teams is just something that happens. Coach Rash values every phase of the game and will keep his best on the field anytime he can. Some of those griping about a kid like Courtney being on special teams would be screaming for him when something went horrifically wrong in the special teams department with a kid from lower in the depth chart in his place.

It's embarrassing when an adult does something to embarrass kids. So if Rash came out and says he stomped NCC to boost his own ego and you say "who cares" I guess the answer should be "anyone who cares about good sportsmanship should care."

but the key is no one associated with NCC should care. They should care about getting better and avoiding it next year. It's embarrassing to struggle enough to lose by 50-60-70, focus on that and let anyone associated with the Beechies possible lack of sportsmanship to suffer in their own embarrassment.

Right. So someone makes a fool out of me, there's no reason for me to be frustrated with the person making me look a fool. I should be frustrated with myself for being made a fool of.

Most folks associated with the Beechies have made it clear that they're not embarrassed.

It depends on what they're doing to make you a fool. In certain situations, absolutely. If you're made a fool of in 1 on 1 basketball, get better, or stop playing them if you feel foolish enough.

Does it matter if they're embarrassed or not? Just get better. Turn it around. Get to a point (and I get it's not realistic to do this overnight) that you give it back to them.

When NCC beat Beechwood in 2019, NCC fans and players did not stop talking about it. They still talk about it to this day. Maybe if NCC would have acted like they had won before they would not have got absolutely man handled.

As a "Beechie" I'm not embarrassed for winning a game 70-7. Maybe NCC should have made some adjustments to not allow that to happen. If getting curb stomped embarrasses you, then do something about it on the field. Play with the same pride they had in 2019 after beating Beechwood.

Surprisingly Newport played better in this game than New Cath did against Beechwood. Plus Beechwood had the freshman team available to play the 4th quarter against Newport. Unfortunately for New Cath the freshmen weren't available to play the 4th quarter.

By the way, Beechwood went for 2 points after second team touchdowns just like they have all year.

Football is one sport where the next play could be your last. Does not matter what quarter it is. It is the risk of the sport and of those who play it. Players know that. Coaches know that.
