As far as the number of good skill position players I would say this may be the best. The QB can flat sling it, and he has multiple weapons to throw it to and Flaherty is a very good RB, but Beechwood has had some really good freshman teams, so it’s hard to say if this is the best ever, but they are certainly in the conversation.

How big is the line? Are there any big boys coming up? 

I understand Beechwood had an 8th grade quarterback, that was starting above the current quarterback at the beginning of the season.  From what I understand the 8th grader broke his collar bone on his throwing arm  early on and hasn't played the rest of the season.  Is this true?  If so, what does that mean for next year?  Good problem to have for Beechwood.

If that is true, that 8th grader must be absolutely incredible. The freshman QB Clay Hayden is the best freshman QB I have ever seen. And I have seen a lot of freshman football over many years. I am looking forward to seeing that 8th grader next year!

I did not see Hergott as a freshman. Different styles. Hayden is not a runner like Hergott. If we are looking for a big name for reference, I saw Tanner Morgan as a freshman and Hayden is better - as a freshman. We will have to wait and see how Hayden grows and matures on the field.

Hayden is a passing machine with great field vision, decision making and pinpoint accuracy.

The 8th grader wasn’t starting over the freshman but was getting a couple of series per game.  He has a nice arm but not as strong as the freshman at this point. The 8th grader is a really good runner and gave Beechwood a different look when he was in there. He’s going to be really good as a freshman next year.

Assuming all goes as planned imagine how tough 2 multi-talented QBs are going to be to defend when they are on the field at the same time.

I know Cam played at HHS as a freshman and was absolutely incredible. I was hoping you would have seen him and could compare. If Hayden is better than Tanner, that is certainly saying something. I am excited to see him continue to grow in the future. Good for NKY football!

A lot can happen from freshman to senior. Tanner Morgan improved a lot in my view from freshman football to varsity. He was a very good leader, decision maker as a freshman but his arm and throwing improved a lot through high school.

They are 2 totally different QBs. Hergott was a scrambler and playmaker much like he is now. Hayden is a pure pocket passer with a very strong arm for his age, and he stands in the pocket and takes some big hits while delivering throws down field.

He doesn’t bring the dual threat capability that Hergott does, but he Is very knowledgeable about coverages and where to go with the football and is not afraid to throw into tight windows.

He has also been playing QB for the JV team and he has thrown for 500 yards and 9 TDs in the last 2 JV games.

I’d say it’s a good chance you will see all of the freshman suited up on Friday nights once the playoffs start.
