For a team that's so overrated and such an afterthought in so many minds, it amazes me why it's such a big deal to these same people when they lose a game.

Outside of Alabama and Clemson over the last so many years, aren't all the rest of the teams overhyped? 
I mean, just look at Penn State, Oklahoma, Iowa, OSU, Georgia (maybe not this year), Oregon and others. This year UC. You really think they're going to beat Bama or Georgia? 

You all do realize the reason teams like ND, OSU and all the rest of the overhyped teams are overhyped is because of $$$. It's a business, guys. Is this actually news to you all?

For me, the ND overhype goes all the way back when they got that TV contract with NBC. It doesn't matter if it's business or whatever the reason is - ND has been overhyped for a long time. In the last 5-10 years they have been more worthy of the hype. Before that, most overhyped team in college football. ND is in the same bucket as the NY Yankees and Dallas Cowboys for me.

Everyone has teams they think are overhyped, it's not exclusive to you. I can tell by your posts that you're pretty much a ND hater, that's okay, that's all part of sports. I see it in every sport at every level. But the point you made in the first sentence here is about the NBC contract. Again, it's more about that then anything regardless if you want to agree or not. It's $$$. ND has been overhyped for a long time because they have a huge following. Same with OSU, Oklahoma and the others. That means money, that's what it's all about. 
Personally, as a ND fan, I didn't think the Irish belonged in the top 20 this season and the way they have played except for one game to an even bigger overhyped opponent this year shows why.

We are on the same page about the overhype. I root for Michael Mayer. I have rooted for ND in the past. So not a total hater of ND. I just hate them being pushed at us regardless. Yes, it is about money and the large following. That doesn't make it any less irritating.

We do indeed agree. I feel the same about other overhyped teams as well. I get how irritating it is.
